Help me to understand Guilds
My Shai quite often gets Guild invites of which I have turned down every time, because I want to be fair to them for the following reasons.
01) I can only play an hour or two a day. Some days maybe more and others maybe not at all. Because of this what benefit would I provide a guild?
02) I never do Discord, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, nothing like that at all. I have nothing against them. They’re just not something I need to have in my life. Nor do I ever want to participate in them. I see guilds require this. I would have to be an exception to not have to. Would guilds accept this?
03) I want to do what I want to do in BDO when I want to do it. If I am required to do guild missions and I can only play an hour a day, when can I do what I want to do?

I know what I have written seems huffy. I see it more as being honest to a guild, so they do not bring in a person who is not a good fit for their team.

I have posted this because this one NA guild has hit me up, requested I join them, more than once.
“The Port Mafia”
I know the name seem ominous, but I know they have taken it from the anime ‘Bungou Stray Dogs’. Of which I am a big Kyōka Izumi fan.

I’m not looking for a comment, “Do the trial and see”.
That answer is obvious.
I do not want to start my own guild neither.
I ask, because I know nothing about guilds and what they would truly require and what exceptions they would give to their team member.

I appreciate your answers. 😊

Some trash guilds will take anyone just so they can hit the 76 members to be considered "extra large". Being off-line for months still counts as a member.
This gives them more weekly silver - depending on size.
As long as a guild has I think... 10 online members that are non-sprouts you qualify to do payouts.
Guild missions aren't required, you really only do them if you care for 5mil a day guild collection pay (easily funded by weekly silver).

In BDO I've never been in somebody else' guild because when I was new the game gave me a challenge to do something that required a guild, and not knowing better I started my own guild. This isn't a big deal in other online games I've played (like Ultima Online, Red Dead Online, Vanguard and Grand Theft Auto Online). But in BDO you can't join another guild if you're in your own.

However, over the decades I've formed an opinion on when and how to join guilds:

Never join a guild. Only join friends.

If you befriend someone who has a guild, join their guild if they ask and if you want. But don't ever join a guild with people with whom you are not actual friends and especially whom you haven't spent time with to know if you like them.

This applies to real life as well, by the way :)

Never been in a guild (except my own, and even that was just to stock up on guild money from sea content, some of those items are worth 100 million, and with it i buy tons of juices for alt characters so everyone got level 30 training), and it seems the only thing i ever missed was an "up to" 5 million silver dailly payout, and some minor buffs, like for example, +3 fishing. Non of the buffs matter to me.

You also usually have the suggested/mandatory discord when you do join one, and much like you, thats another thing i care nothing about doing. That said, ninja invite guilds just want numbers they couldnt care less about who you are, which just sounds like another reason to instantly refuse.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being in a guild you made, a guild of of one, well...., and alts?

The benefits, far as myself is concerned, is guild shop access, both to sell and buy items. Sea monster hunting nets quite a few items that are guild shop bound (cannot be sold anywhere else), including previously mentioned rare monster parts worth 100 million (silver which is also guild bound), so i will occasionally start a guild, like at the start of this season, do sea monster hunting, haul it back to velia, and do business with the guild manager just east of the blacksmith.

My season Lahn already has level 30 STR and Health (breath sort of leveled itself) with juices. Otherwise you can just start one yourself and look closer, to see if anythings of interest to you, cost is very low and disbanding is a matter of pressing a button.

Disadvantages, off the top of my head, maybe that people can declare war on you and kill you even if on season, for example.

I joined a guild so that I didn't get badgered with guild invites!

Our guild doesn't have any requirements for missions, planned bosses or other activities. If members want to group up and do something, they organize themselves and do it.

You can do what you want, when you want, which is exactly how I like it. I'm a solo player and anti-social (and in my 70's so it's ok...). I'm also the back up to our guild master, so definitely a laid back guild.

It's pretty difficult to figure out how a guild really is until you get in one, but quitting is easy. Some people like structured activities and lots of interaction - they tend to leave our guild quickly.

So there are guilds out there that meet your requirements, just have to look for them.

Thank you to Nhika, Karna5, STP, and Jenquai.
All of your information is very helpful and informative to me.
I appreciate. 😊

Old guild are relatively safe. I mean they will invite you to buff your character for lifeskill use. It makes it faster for gathering or fishing. They do it for the sake or your afk activity less tenuous.

Most Shai just lifeskill. Most of the guild activity will be lifeskill for the most part. I suppose most of them don't have much requirement.
