New players starting out have no chance at all, and that's even assuming to complete season and come out of it with 240+ AP and 300+ DP, because the average at this point is around 285 AP and 320 DP. Once you reach 240 AP and 300 DP, it also becomes pretty expensive to get better gear unless you get extremely lucky or have a really good method of making enough silver easily through lifeskills.
Open PVP outside of safe zones starts for characters LV50 and beyond, meaning if you're outside a safe zone from that point on, you can be killed by anyone for any reason, at the cost of karma for the aggressor. Go below 0 and people can kill you without penalty, and go all the way to the bottom (IIRC it's -1 million karma, top end is +300K), then you go red PERMANENTLY, which means that character can no longer enter safe town cities like Heidel, Velia, etc. because the NPC guards will attack you and you can't attack them, your only safe haven because Muiquinn in the desert, a town for red players.
And as with any community that can be competitive, BDO can get pretty damn toxic when it comes to anything, but for PVP, you'll experience the most toxicity. People will attack you on sight, they'll ask you to duel for your spot, and if you refuse, they'll attack and kill you until you leave, and no matter the outcome, they'll treat you like garbage. If you win, they'll call in their friends and gank you into oblivion, and if you run away, you're insulted. If you lose them, they'll usually keep on killing you until you revive in a town, and they'll also insult you for running away or bringing in friends to back you up when you've been killed a few times.
So IMO if you're looking for a game specifically for PVP but don't like this kind of behaviour and these kinds of mechanics, stay far away from this game. New players will get trampled by bored douchey veterans that can barely fight their fellow veterans.
Do a season character and you'll have a good starting point gear with PEN Tuvala
If you have a friend or a few that are interested in the game, you can make trial characters and go into the arena and fight other characters. Trial characters are high level with decent armor and weapons and all skills unlocked. Its basically a place where you can test out the different classes against each other.
The other thing is that Season characters are on their own server and the PvP is going to be a lot better on the season server since everyone is gear capped. Season just started so it should run for another 2 months.
If you don't enjoy anything in BDO outside of the PvP, then you are best to look elsewhere.
but u can expect people hit you if u farm in their grinding spot
you a wallet warrior ? you willing to shell put thousands of dollars ? No ? then you will have zero chance in pvp.
Sure, paying might give you some advantages elsewhere in the game, but none of them make you any better in PvP than people who choose not to spend thousands of dollars on pearls. At the very least, it makes you smarter (with finances) than those people, MMOs like BDO are a money sink.
the PVP aspect of BDO is the worst of the game right after the enhancement system.
In PVP, the players are not all at the same level meaning they are all scaled /adjusted so that everyone has the same chances in the fight making actually the skill management count more.
IN BDO´s PVP -> you either kill (oneshot), get killed (one shot) OR you can´t kill /can´t be killed AT ALL (Very high DP build or low accuracy, low AP of the opponent).
This means that PVP is based on GEAR stats -> low gear loses vs High End Gear.
The combat itself at high AP levels last -> 2 to 3 seconds. You heard right. 2 to 3 seconds right after the firts "CC".
A "CC" is an effect you inflict to the opponent (stiffness, floating, knockdown, downsmash, airsmash, bound) to stop him briefly from attacking you -> the problem is, once you are affected by one CC, you can be affected by 2 other CCs in a row -> this briefly locks your keyboard for a few seconds, meaning your input have no effect -> this is the moment where you DIE in a ONESHOT.
The worst part of pvp....
1 -> Some classes inflict more/less damage to certain classes. (ex: Magic AP classes like Sorceress, Dark Knight, Witch, Mage do much less damage to MYstics and Striker who have passive Magic AP resistance.)
2 -> grab -> knockdown ->downsmash -> airsmash/bound -> moments where you just look at your characters HP getting melt down to 0.
Sometimes you get oneshot after 2 CCs -> HP pools like 5000HP can get one shot nowadays yes.
If you run a HIGH EVASION BUILD -> you will certainly survive more than a few seconds, maybe 5 seconds or more BUT you will still die because the CCs still lock you out of any escape possibility -> RESULT -> Evasion builds are great for resisting multiple attacks but in the end the CC effects kill you because you can´t escape.....
BDO´s PVP explained and frankly spoken -> it is bad....really bad.
PS: to avoid a CC you have to use skilsl with "Frontal Guard or SUPER ARMOR" which protect you so you don´t suffer the effects of the CC BUT you still take damage from skills so...either way...you die unless you are lucky.
And all of that means nothing ,when you have 30 FPS and above difference between the 2 players. That is why we get those results, because is a core engine issue.
