This is a video by BiceptimusPrime on enhancing the Tuvala gear which really save your sanity when you get to that point in the Season: https://youtu.be/kIzWlXq4mGk
Because RNG, they will fail, roll back gear to lower level multiple times, get mad, and quit.
Worst system in the game.
Main Quest
Personally I take my time, for me that roughly equates to 2-7 days (depending upon how much I play the game) per region (Balenos, Serendia, Calpheon, Mediah etc etc). Working through the main quests and combat quests first, taking note of Season Pass requirements along the way. Season Pass rewards give great bonuses for your character, like inventory space, which then make lifeskill quests/activities much easier to do afterwards. I do my fair share of faffing about always also.
Lifeskills
Black Spirit Guide ('Guide <4>' when talking to your Black Spirit) provides great tutorial missions, covering all the basic lifeskills the game has to offer. This is based around Velia/Balenos and highly recommended. Also, refer back to 'Guide <4>' regularly to keep abreast of when you can attempt advancement quests for your various lifeskills, these can be quite important and will unlock high lifeskill efficiencies etc etc. Of course, if you don't enjoy lifeskilling, don't waste your time doing any of that. The game is for fun, precious time should be spent doing enjoyable things.
Equipment
Enhancing TET and PEN Tuvala equipment: use the failstacks Fughar gives you, I think it's +40 for TET and +60 for PEN, these are quest rewards given by Fughar when showing him a successfully enhanced piece of equipment of the lower tier, and are given for this reason. Don't worry about using Cron Stones - they're too valuable. When enhancing for TET and PEN, work on one piece at a time and always make sure you have enough stones to force enhance (100% chance) your piece of equipment back to TRI. This way at the end of the day if you don't succeed you will be with at least a TRI piece; the piece you started with, so won't go backwards.
Tuvala Accessories, it's personal preference, and dependant largely upon how many Tuvala Ore bits you have to barter for accessories to enhance with. Personally I use low Advice of Valks (e.g. +20) to expedite the process, just makes it much less painful overall.
On a sidenote, ontop of the advice other players already given you, you'll probably be overwhelmed by the amount of currencies being thrown at you, i imagine you'll be wondering "whats a Caphras stone", whats this that and the next. Take your newfound items that you might still not have a clue what they're for, and store them at any given city, maybe find a city/village you like, look for the store manager and have him keep all the stuff you're unsure about. You can greatly expand storage of the place with some contribution points, but worry bout that later.
Dont waste valks or stuff on season gear.
Dont sell everything in the CM.. Keep armor stones and weapon stones.. same with mem frags and stuff
I also a hear, hear to "Fredericks of Cursewood, Reverielle, kitty, and Pvt. BootyClap posts". If this is your first play through follow the main questline. It will get you a lot of free storage space, Naru Gear, and Beginner Black Stones.
While doing that main questline keep enhancing that Naru gear. At first you will not have enough Beginner Black Stones, but the main questline gives you more and more as you go. Eventually, you will get that Naru gear (weapons / armor) to PEN. 😊
