Horses, Not Dream, But Very Fast
Curious question:
Is one able to use a "Race Horse" for their daily general play on BDO?
I ask, because I was on my T8 horse and it is pretty fast with Sprint, Instant Accel, and S:Instant Accel. This other player on a Non-Dream Horse (again, it was not a dream horse) and they passed me like I was crawling. They were moving so fast it was just like the Race Horses.
Horse Racing Event, Old Moon Grand Prix
So.... is one able to use a "Race Horse" for their daily general play on BDO or is there something else I don't know about where you can get your horse to run that fast? 😊
Again, it was not a dream horse.

Get better horse gear, use a higher quality horse roll, get your courser skills

Push for a Doom horse if you want extremely fast active riding that doubles as a destructive battering ram

Currently my horse speed is 152. I'm using +10 all the way around Storm gear. What gear would be better?

152 isn't great, not bad, but there's better
Get the best gear available for speed

Okay, I looked at all of my T8 horses and found a faster one, but it doesn't have S:Instant Accel yet. I'm working on that with the skill change coupons and switching out Force Chomp at each horse level. This horse has a 160.3 speed. It is wearing +10 Storm Gear all the way around and horse Pearl Shop Gear. I see now that I'll need to grind Tshira Ruins and Blood Wolf Town to get a ton of Garmoth scales, so I can make some Krogdalo Horse Gear. That will be awhile, but at least I have a faster horse now.

Thank you Escorve and Vambrace for all of your help. 😊

One thing that usually affects the riders speed is not so much the horse, but the riding crop.

Do you use one? a manos riding crop adds 20% to a horses speed, and a whopping 50% speed to the horses auto run, for when you're auto pathing somewhere.

Other than that, its all skills and speed stat (their horseshoes). Some sites (and players) will claim horses have speed brackets (claiming speed jumps at 150.1, 160.1, 170.1 etc), but this isn't the least accurate, anyone can test and attest that crop and a horses overall speed and skills are the only driver.

Edit: on gear try watchin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdD1x_yp__g
Granverre is your budget speed option, it shares the max 8% boost with Krogdalo (not present in that older video), that is far more expensive mostly because of the player buffs provided.

I use a Loggia riding crop.
Now granted, I've never done actual timed tests, but the only difference I have ever seen is the auto-pathing speed increase as mentioned. Is there really a speed increase while galloping? I ask, because visually, I don't notice any difference.

It does make a difference

I use a TET manos, and my doom has mostly upgraded blue gear, it's insanely fast, takes me basically 2 minutes to get from Heidel to Sandgrain

Loggia is 5% speed and 15% autopath. Manos is 20 and 50% respectively, yes, difference is quite large.

You don't need to enhance the manos crop if you're not big on horse training, the standard one already offers the 20/50.

Thank you "Escorve" and "Im doing my part!".
I guess it is time to buy me a Manos Riding Crop. 😊

As IDMP! said, you can just get a base since enhancement only increases the training mastery, do it only if you want to help level up your training skill

also, you can use drift then instantly go into instant accel with S;instant accel, rinse and repeat to go really fast. You will use a lot of stamina but your horse goes the quickest when using instant accel an you'll pass all the people just holding the button for instant accel.

I still need to train Drift since it is only at 19%.
What I do is.... I hold my Shift+W+F keys all at once.
Although it is not as fast as including Drift it is still faster than most others riding since my animation lag is about 1 second before Sprint. Instant Accel follows perfectly afterward.
So.... once I get going = Sprint, Instant Accel, 1 second, Sprint, Instant Accel, 1 second, and so on etc....

If I had S:Instant Accel like my other slower horse, that would follow my Instant Accel causing me to go even faster. Holding my Shift+W+F keys all at once. When I get going = Sprint, Instant Accel, S:Instant Accel, 1 second, Sprint, Instant Accel, S:Instant Accel, 1 second.

I now need to train Drift as suggested as well as getting the Manos Riding Crop. 😊

You didn't get any of the all skill training coupons from the events? They gave out a few of them over the last year or so

I always choose the Skill Change Coupons over the Training ones.
That way I gain more (free) chances to get the skills to get a Courser.
I don't mind spending the 2 to 4 hours training the horse to max the skill to 100%.
I like doing that at Olvia in peace. 😊

The training coupons were better since it's hours of work you don't have to do once you have all your skills
Minigames suck.
