Account transfer notifications
Dear devs,

You REALLY need to send out emails in regards to this account transfer.

If I didn't have a friend who was actively playing this to tell me about it I would have lost my progress (not much for me, but imagine someone taking several months of pause from the game only to come back and see that they don't have the game anymore).

Point of this topic:
Do send out emails to current owners of the game, this is absolutely necessary and a "news feed" on top of a game you don't click on anymore is not exactly the way to go.

Is the account transfer needed for those who just own the game and haven't played it?

Don't think so, the transfer seems to affect your existing characters, but I have no more info about that.

They sent an email to me yesterday. Sent out to the email associated with my Kakao Games account (created via steam).

Black Desert Online Account Transfer Registrations Begin
This email is sent to every user regardless of their account transfer status. If you've already completed your account transfer registration, no further action is required.
The Kakao Games Black Desert Online service ends on February 24, 2021, with all rights and duties related to the continuation of the service and use of personal data being transferred to Pearl Abyss. If you do not register for an account transfer before May 31, 2021, you will not be able to continue playing Black Desert Online with your existing account and all your game data will be deleted.

And then a link to the transfer page.
If you haven't seen an email yet, they may be staggering the mail-out, or you may not have your email address set up on Kakao properly. Or it may have ended up in spam.

- in spam: nothing
- email address setup properly (as I completed that transfer and received both emails during this process, code & confirmation)

I suppose they just didn't send out these emails out to inactive users (users who haven't logged into the game since very long time), hell, last time I logged in to the game was when they were still using that xing guard anticheat which I heard from the same friend that it got removed.

Only other thing I can think of is perhaps you've opted out of receiving site-wide emails from Kakao.
They may have classed this as a marketing email by mistake and followed everyone's opt-out requests.

At the bottom of the email:
You are receiving this mail because you opted in at our website.
