The current Winter Seasonal Server will be over on 31 March 2021, which is 8 days from now. If you are a brand new player, with zero days playing, you can play on the Olivia Servers for 30 days. I personally prefer the Seasonal servers, but would not start with only 8 days left. The next seasonal server, if it happens, will not start until a couple of months after March. So with that in mind, I'd hit the Olivia servers now.

What makes you say it will be months for a new season? i thought it would only be 1-2 weeks before a new season started?

Coming from the Korean patch notes, we're not getting a spring season.

Hiya ^^

The season will be over in less of 1 week, so if you are a new player I think it would be better to start a normal character than a season one. If you are a new player it could be rather confusing starting the season right now and then having your character transferred to a normal one (Keep in mind that this is just my personal opinion, so do whatever it suits you better).

Also, if you are a new or returnee player don't forget to take advantage of the benefits of the new Olvia Servers.

These news servers are similar to season and they have really nice buffs! You can read all the details here: https://www.naeu.playblackdesert.com/en-US/News/Detail?groupContentNo=565&countryType=en-US

Have a nice day!

Kind regards.

With the way gearing works now, it makes the season server obsolete. There is a good video on Youtube by a dude named evildousharm that explains it. The Devs have been incredibly awesome improving the game recently, so don't think you are losing out. The seasonal gear progression confused a lot of people in an already pretty complex game.

I came back a few weeks ago, and things are way better now than they were a year ago.

So, watch that video (just search the name and you'll find it---I really don't like including links in my posts). The roadmap for the game in the next year looks really exciting. It's probably the best time to actually get into the game and enjoy it.

Gearing is the thing that is putting me off REALLY getting in to the game mostly, i watched the video before you even recommended it (that youtuber is a blessing to new players) but sadly i still have no idea what is going on with gear.

Basically, all the season servers did was add tuvala gear. Tuvala gear was intended to replace the beginning story gear when you got to that point using the Tuvala ore and time filled black stones.

Now, you just follow the story, and upgrade your story gear. After that, you exchange that gear at Fughar (naru gear I think it's called), and get the new gear set. After that, you continue the game like normal.

To summarize, follow the main story line, and only worry about upgrading the story gear as you go. At a certain point in the story, the black spirit will send you to upgrade it to the new gear. After that, join a guild to help you with what you should look for next.

I gave up on the game last year, and decided to come back. The initial gearing is much easier now. The only real difference is since you aren't on a season server, you are open to PvP once you get to the level 50 mark. It's not that big of deal. The game really confused me at first, since there is so much content it's hard to figure out what you should be doing. Take it in steps, and don't rush, and you'll be just fine.
