when they are purple is when you are going to have trouble hitting them, that means their level is 4 or more above you and you'll need more and more accuracy to hit them the higher they are, it's also why higher level characters in pvp have a vastly easier time hitting lower level characters if they are higher by 4 or more levels. You should go by the ap on the map and assume it's with a tet kutum for extra monster ap damage and you'll easily figure out if you can take monsters or not. Having blackstar weapons help too since they have more monster ap damage.

As far as determining which AP bracket you're in, the number it shows is the number you get. Then you get the bonus from the bracket, plus any extra bonuses you get from gear/skills.

So in my case 241 Awakening AP gives me 40 additional AP and then we add AP from crystals ? !0 extra AP from Macalod crystals, 4 AP from Carmae crystals on the Pendulum (and 16 extra damage to all species + 21 AP against monsters), Glaives (7 extra damage to all species + 10 AP against monsters), 10 AP from Valtarra crystals and +43 AP on Kutum subweapon.

Which ones really count for fighting and grinding ? Everything ? Hard to believe if so, because it'd mean I have...402 AP with all that. Surely there is something that doesnt count ?

Always go by sheet AP. Unless you are confident of course or don't value your time.

higher ranking siege guilds will go by your average ap, so add attack plus awakening then divide by 2 so you would have 240 ap to them.(239+241 then divide by 2)

I dont care about any sort of PvP in this game. Only PvE.

Also for what would the bonuses from crystals be then ? They have to count or something :uhhbs:

Crystals do count and you are assumed to have crystals if you go to any spot that is 240 ap or higher. the game scales in that way too; and it's why they keep releasing better crystals and pve gear(blackstar). Also; if you are looking at grind spots assume it's for a tet kutum weapon or higher once you hit 240 ap. hope this helps. Also the average ap divide by 2 is also assumed upon higher level grind spots.

Can I tell if I'm at too easy spot if I one hit an enemy ? Or not ? Like the areas before the desert, Centaurs, they are labeled in red to me, but I can fight them without problems. I'm guessing it's that I'm level 56 and not higher ? I dont one shot them, but they dont deal too much damage to me.

Yes, areas that you can one shot the enemies are easy, but if the groupings are good and you have some good T3 pets, you can rake in some decent trash loot.

Also yes, that the name color of the enemies and those times where red pulses around the edges of your screen are due to your level and not your AP/DP score.
