Besides from the training costume you just need to keep on training till you have artisan/master skill level. With high skill level you have a +20% or more increase that the horse will learn a new skill with each level on top of the costume buff. Life skilling just sucks at low level, you have to grind through it.
I am doing horse training a lot as well and in the beginning I only trained low tier horses that are quick to level up, which also increased the training skill quickly. Only after reaching professional level I started training T5 to T7 horses.
And get a better training costume, 10% buff is not a lot.
Best way to grind horse training is to connect 2 to 4 horses to a wagon (depends wich type of wagon You can access) and just ride around forever untill You are satisfied with your training level.
Remember that You get %tage of training every time horse levels up. Not from distance ridden or amount of horse skills mastered.
Though distance and speed matters when You want to level horses faster.
Thats why you should start with low tier horses and train them up to level 10 and then dump them on the market and buy a new batch of low tier horses. Rinse and repeat till you have artisan/master level and then you can start to make some decent amount of silver and train the horses up to a high level.
The only other thing I would add is that if you have one or more other lifeskills going that occupy your AFK time and are already enjoyable and/or profitable, you can weigh up how much you want to be training the horses yourself, and whether you want to just buy one?
The main downside imo being that while you can see what skills the horses on the market have, you cannot see their names so expect to fork out loyalties/cash on a name change coupon
And due to the surge in people experiencing random reloads due to desync issues it will (most likely have to) all be done while watching it, instead of AFK.
It indeed will take hundreds of hours to get master skill level, but with AFK training it's not really an effort. I am at pro6 skill right now and I am only playing the game for 3+ months and training for just a few hours a day. Taking 3 years to get to that level lke you is really slow.
But with the newly added life-skilling gear it might be faster.
And besides from lifeskill costume there are also consumable buffs plus pets and scrolls. I drink Sute Tea like crazy in the game (8% buff) and always Spirit Water of Essence to constantly increase my health (though that has nothing to do with lifeskilling).
But I guess that's one good thing that I got a female. I can use the other T7 males breeding attempt then trade those in*.
*And yes I'd rather not over think the whole 'inbreeding' thing, thanks. It is just a game after all.
