Which is easier for a beginner, Ranger or Archer
Hi, just getting this game installed to try and had a quick look at the available classes. Like the idea of a ranged class using a bow and noticed there are 2 classes that tick these boxes, the ranger and the archer. For a clueless beginner, is one easier than the other the learn and play please ? I'll be honest, if i can choose i prefer the more static deal damage from a distance type gameplay rather than having to be constantly on the move. Thanks for any feedback / info.

I've never played Ranger, but I can tell you that Archer is always moving. Always. Aside from the constant repositioning with slides and leaps though, Archer isn't very complicated.

On the character select screen there's a second tab for Trial characters, you can make a character that starts at Lv 60 in an isolated arena area to get a feel for how they play. Might help with your decision.

Thank you for the reply, did not know you could try a class at level 60 to get a feel for it, that's a really good idea.

I am Ranger since Day 1 (playing on bdo client, not on steam). I enjoy and love Ranger but if you really want something "easy for beginners", don't go with Ranger. You need constant moving just like Archer but with more complex skill combinations/key combos.

I tried archer but found ranged combat to be a bit different to how it is in other mmo games i used to play so going to look at trying a melee class and see how that goes. I'll be honest, may even turn out this game is just a bit too challenging for my filthy casual butt, with the free time with everything going on tho, i will take advantage and be sure to give it a good try and hopefully something clicks, missing not having a game to really get stuck into.
