Both have 1000's of quests.
ESO has some really great story/quest lines.
ESO is split up into zones. There are also plenty of ways of teleporting to locations.
BDO is 1 super massive map. You also have to run everywhere so make sure you have fast horse.
ESO has a TON of DLC's that add in more quests. Dungeons, Gear etc.
BDO everything is a part of the core game.
BDO may require some additional $$$ (pets, inventory space, weight capacity) to maximize efficiency.
ESO may require some additional $$$ (May gear sets are DLC only depending on your build)
PVP on ESO is basically dead at this point though. The tank/heal meta is pure rubbish. ZoS has done effectively nothing for the PVP player base in nearly 2 years.
ESO has trials(raids) some of which are really well done. However some of them are very difficult and the raid community is pretty small.
Can't really go wrong either way. After 4k hours in ESO though I have been playing BDO recently though.
Both games have alot of micro-transactions in them. ESO has a subscription service. (pay monthly fee/ You get all the DLCs, get crowns I think montly (used to buy junk in the store). BDO has some what of a pay to win system. Like get better exp and what not. Ignore my 2.7 hours. I done my research. I've been told by players about the game.
ESO is discounted. You can buy the game along with the DLCs for a good price. Be warned- game is messy at times.
Dont care about BIS? Then pvp is only for you to be a victim and while BDO from PVE have only dull mobs pack to grind on and few world bosses there is nothing more for you except afk run, craft :D
bdo is open world semi sand box
eso is a themepark
id say this do u want a game that handholds and releses dlc every few months for you to buy or not progress and all you are is a fighter that can craft armor and weapons or
do u want a game with bugger all handholding were u can be a trader a farmer a horse breeder
a sailor with ya own ship or a fighter
Yup that's all it will ever be "afk, crafting" as a new player will NEVER compete in PVP the game has been out way to long. BIS gear would only be available in a timely matter if you drop a TON of $. Casual players need not to play and hope to do well in PVP or farm good loot zones. You wont have the AP to farm them.
Top loot drop farms are controlled by Vets so.......
They totaly dont care about the Community, Server is trash laggy ♥♥♥♥ for YEARS.. all they do is adding new stuff for realmoney, but dont fix the real Problems.
Black Desert is pretty, has wonderful graphics, and the combat is at least fun... but the storytelling is complete garbage.
Elder Scrolls Online looks dated, even being only a year older than Black Desert It looks slightly better than Lord of the Rings Online and Everquest 2. Slightly. The combat is horrible, and I can't speak much about the storytelling because the game just wasn't fun enough to continue on and experience the story.
I at least had some fun with Black Desert because at least the gameplay was somewhat entertaining, but I quickly lost interest because the story was just so non-existent. Elder Scrolls was just awful from the start.
Eso too xD
Most horrid drawbacks of ESO are loading screens everywhere and unpredictable maintenance and availability issues for steam users. Which BDO does not have, which BTW is a technical marvel on its own.
I have about 8000 hours in ESO, I absolutely love it. But I am playing BDO at the moment. If I had to choose between the two, I guess I would prefer BDO, but only because I have some money basically. Ideally I would choose something else entirely and hope for the best. Like New World maybe.
In MMOs a lot depends on the people you play with. Are your friends playing ESO or BDO? ESO in general has very good community. BDO I do not know yet actually.
Also keep in mind, that you can always try both. ESO does free trials sometimes, sometimes it goes on sale for like 8 pounds.
