Guild Wars 2 has a better system and even that is not the greatest. Add in the gender locking classes and you have even less options. So I also wonder why this game gets so much praise for the char creation...
Just because you don't know how to use the editor doesn't mean it's trash. And are you purely talking about the character creator, or clothing as well, which it indeed does lack?
Define "better system." Character appearance? Clothing? Backstory? Different races? All the above?
I agree with the gender locking, (and more variety in armor you don't have to pay for would be nice) but you're comparing it to GW2 as far as character looks is concerned?
(And I've played that game to death, played every character including the new one in HOT save for a necromancer, and maxed leveled two.)
I mean...I can understand if you like the style of the character's design better than others, that's pretty subjective. But you shouldn't be expecting a game to go beyond one style, (in BDO's case since it's Korean...very very anime-ish) cause neither does GW2. About each character looks young and in their 20-30's if you're counting humans/norn, it's not like you can even choose your age. BDO you can. So if you're talking about variation...do you mean the different races?
And yes, I know there's a difference between good graphics, and graphics that are asthetically pleasing because the different graphical elements of the game go well together. (i.e. of one that doesn't....A Valley Without Wind)
But if you're purely talking about limitations here in JUST the character creator:
- Mulitple hair types and at least one unique hair type for each class
- Length and curl options for each
- Female classes get invidiual length options for individual hair pieces lengths and XYZ direction/rotation.
- Curl sliders that work for certain hair.
- Color for basic, hair ends, and um...hair...each having shine, dye and area respectively
- 80 skin colors, shine slider.
- Facial hair - Default, Beard, Mustache, Sideburns, Default Brow, Eyeborws, each with mulitple sliders and about 100 colors.
- Facial shaping with XYZ sliders for position, rotation, and size on 35 pull points.
- Eye makeup and Lip maker. Sliders for each, 40 colors for each.
- Mulitple choices for pupil, iris, and lens, 40 colors for each. For EACH eye INDVIDUALLY.
- Eyelashes, Eye Line, and Bottom Line, with a length slider for each. 100 colors.
- Tattoos with positional sliders, density and invert. 40 colors.
- Wrinkles for brow, eye, and frown.
- Standby Expression if you really really want your character looking weird while idle.
- Raise hair option you can see the face temporarily while editing.
- Sliders for body porportion on at least 20 different body points, and for some reason mulitple points on each finger and toes that for some reason don't do anything when adjusted. (So far that's the only thing I can't get to work, not that I think that it's a noticeable detail.)
- Muscle definition
- Tattoos for body with previously mentioned options
- Pose editor for screenshots.
- Horoscope selection
- Preview character under different light settings
- Preview character in (I think) all the emotes in the game
- Preview character in premium clothing
- Instagram-like *shudder* photo sharing feature in-game
And if you can make something this....this....well...just look at it. I don't have to say anything.

This is the fifth picture that comes up in Google images for the search "black desert online". You don't even have to type MJ.

Just because the majority of people will just pick the prettiest of options (that you probably won't even see when they whip by you in auto-walk) doesn't mean you can't actually take the time to do something very unique. Are you seriously telling me you can pull a off a human or norn better in GW2?
IMO other than an actual graphics editing program for 3d models (yes...I have one of those too) I really don't think it compares.
I guess...maybe cause you can't choose different races? None of you mentioned if this was a factor or not. I'd rather have one well in-depth race you can work on than a limited number of choices for several races, and it just so happens it's that one race that every is familiar and (most likely) already comfortable with. *shrug*
As opposed to the rest of the character's body that no one will ever see? Like all the other MMO's? (Unless you play without armor or use the bikini/undwear and get strange looks.)
Well...I don't know what to tell you. I don't know what "losing it's ♥♥♥♥" means. I can control the interface just fine.
Ok. Now. Where is this MMO you're speaking of?
No it mean's you're just blind or haven't bothered trying to change your characters body type at all. Editing the hips in any manner causes a flat colored space to apper between their waist and their hips. which makes it just look off.
Anything from Planetside to Phantasy star online 2.
It is an MMO character editor (with all that it implies, namely rendering all those different toons in real time in an open word...), not a professionnal photo editing tool or some sort of super advanced and specialized tool.
I quite often wander around in town, just looking at people, and apart from those using pure default, there isnt a single clone at all.
And there is also quite some creativity, character far away from default ones.
Oki, mostly good looking toons (because people prefer beauty to ugliness i guess), but still...
And ugliness, or somewhat less beautiful looking, is possible too.
And your choices for female faces is small child, anime character, and tomboy.

What are you even talking about?
And again, even if there was a seam, these parts are mostly going to be covered anyway. I doubt anyone is going to care that your limbs or hips (let alone notice) are 3 cm longer or shorter than theirs.
Stay on topic. You already have another thread whining about this, bringing it up here doesn't validate your arguments about character looks.
