Housing issue

So I bought my first houses. I designated one my residence and the other 3, storage, refinery and furniture workshop (Although I did not realise each house had only one use at a time).

I got into my residence ok, but I cannot get into the other 3. I only have the option to visit the top 15 houses in each case. How do I get into mine?

I watched 7 'housing' videos online, but none of them cover this.

You can't go inside buildings unless they are made into a residence. They just get turned into a static building.

But then I am just left with 4 residence. So do I start as a residence and then change the usage once inside?

Each building you get only has a single use.

Storage buildings just give you bonus slots in that towns storage, they are not a place you can go inside. Same goes for all the other buildings, the refinery and workshop you got are managed from the map screen and are for your workers only.

The only building you can go inside is a residence and you only really need 1, or maybe one in each main town/city.

So I have to get a worker and and somehow instruct him to make the items for me from the refinery, workshop etc. Making sure I have the ingredients in storage.

Do all workers have the skill ranks to make the stuff?

Workers do have/learn skills as they level, don't worry too much about that early on. Just hire some guys and put them to work, they will do what they are told so long as you keep giving them beer.

Make sure you have enough lodging to house your workers too (No, you can't enter this building either).
