Black Desert

Does armor change appearance?
It doesn't seem to. The hide costume/helmet options dont do anything. What am I missing here? I'm level 17 and have gotten clearly different looking armor to my base appearance.

Most characters don't actually have a visible helmet.
And most armors from questing don't actually change the appearance.

Even the ones you can buy from stores? That seems a bit...low effort.

The ones from the pearl shop change the appearance, but they go into vanity slots over in-game armor.

I meant in shops in the actual world, not in the pearl shop. I mean, I guess it makes sense. People slave over the character creator for hours to make their perfect character, so they wouldnt want it to be ruined by crappy armor that covers their face, or ruins the idea they had for them.

I'm pretty new to this game so I may be completely wrong, but it seems the different armors do give different appearances, just nothing too different from each other. At least in the couple of armor sets I've gotten on my 4 characters, I've seen a couple different looks.

I do like how every armor that's green or better seems to be dyeable, since they gave us 15 days of free dyeing, I'm taking hardcore advantage of that. :cozydarkseer:

Depending on which one you get does change appearance. For example, grunil is different from agerian.

There's just not that much of a variety, and like I said almost every class does not have a helmet for these.

https://bdofashion.wordpress.com/category/armor-sets/ This site shows some of the differences. Of course for each class it's completely different

(This is meant for both of you to see if you're curious)

There are good-looking craftable outfits too. They can be turned into a costume with a tailoring coupon which can often be bought for 90-100 mil in the marketplace.

All the Shai specific craftable armours are great, and then there are a bunch of nice general ones like Black Leopard, Ahon Kirus, or Delphe Knights. Some of those do include a visual helmet.
