Best Class To Learn The Game On

Just started playing the game a couple of days ago and wondered what the best class is for a beginner. ! have played wow in the past ans still play eso but bdo is totally different to the mmo's i have played before. I generally play Ranger type classes or casters. I am just stuck on what to play in this game.
Any help and advice appreciated.

Lucky for you Archer is coming out in a few days. With some perks. One of which being you can level two classes at once (or so I've heard from a (whom I believe to be) reliable guildmate source) reading from a website I didn't bother to follow up on (maybe bdo official forums?) So pick two classes, an archer and one other class, link Archer to THAT class. And level them both by playing ONLY the Archer up to level 59. Ofcourse if you want to break away from archer, and play your other [lets say-] Wizard class. If you stopped playing Archer, at 20, your Wizard will be 20. But it doesnt work vice-versa. So feel free to look this up if you don't believe me. Full disclosure I'm only repeating what I've heard from someone i trust.

I've heard nothing that says this link doesnt work on existing toons already, so ppl should be able to link a level 1 archer to a level 30 alternate toon. And the 30 still gets xp. So if you can't wait for Archer first don't worry about it. Just pick someone who you like and it can't go wrong. That's what this game is at LEAST.

"I generally play Ranger type classes or casters" Ranger , archer (what will come out soon) , dark knight , sorceress ,witch , wizard. Try out dk and witch at start and remmember at 56 you will have awakening skills soo dont get disgusted of pre awa skills too fast

I decided to try Valk and DK, got to level 19 on the Valk pretty quick and got my DK up to level 14. Playing the 2 at lower level i would say the DK seems to kill things alot quicker but i like the Valk better, seems more playable to me. When ppl said that it was different to other mmo's i thought yeah right, once you have played one mmo they are all the same, how wrong was i lol.

Level 19 and level 14 characters won't let u feel the class and you will not be able to really understand if u like class without awakening.

Lord Odin get lvl 56 with the class at first , the most immportant is that if you will like awakening skills , under 56 you cant feel too much. If you did choose valk you should know its one of most disgusting class in pve , not cus of dmg because thats really fine its about its soo slow to move from group of monsters to another one but good luck !

Thanks for the replies guys and the advice is much appreciated, i know they are low level, i was just saying that at similar levels the DK does feel stronger. I know about the awakening at 56 and look forward to it, i generally try all characters in games and just like any mmo you always have a favourite. I have only played the game for about 7 hours but am enjoying the gameplay and overall feel for the game, one thing i will miss is fast travel and waypoints etc, i need to get a mount and level it as quick as i can. PVE advice:
Play wiz/witch nuke alot but feels less mobile until later but can kill large quantities quickly.
Play ninja. get Target Chase to max tier. infinite super speed with only a half sec recast every 20 seconds. Really helps with their teleport dash working together.
Play ranger. just be fast running all the time.
Play musa. be fast zipping group to group. killing in wide aoes and conal attacks.
play dark knight. aoe the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything all the time. so-so move speed. only good for pve unless uber geared.

Skip ALL content except black spirit questline up to 56 until you get awakened weapon and have unlocked some daily scrolls. Backtrack later. Trust me youll start making more profit 56 and onward. (Daily scrolls/More ap/dp/accuracy...faster clear times when farming for loot in the areas 50-58). Plus clearing all the black spirit quests will give inventory space and some doodads to beef some of your ap/dps
Get 3 nodes around veila for POTATOES. get lodging in veila to support 3 workers total to farm the potatoes. Buy some beer at first. the game throws money at you left and right when you start out. But this node setup will get you goin and can be a lasting source of potatoes to make worker beer.
If you dont know how to active nodes talk to the node managers at each node in the game and every single new npc you come across(you will need a bit of contribution for each node investment, this can be earned via completion of black spirit quests and any other quests you come across and decide to complete). This will increase energy cap as well as you uncover them all. 260 is where contribution started to slow down for me. but getting to 260 took me about 15 days of doing stuff casually on and off during that time.

When you arent playing. AFK fish by simply tossing your line into a body of water. And walk away. Yes just walk away. Make sure you have an empty inventory for this afk session. You can get relics worth around 900k-1.5m depending on current market value. For each one. The fish you can sell to a trader for some extra profits. With no p2w inventory slots at the start you should be good to afk about 2-3 hours til your inventory fills up and needs to be emptied. Keep game running 24/7.

Also use http://www.somethinglovely.net/bdo/ for ALL node locations. The map is pretty interactive and is probably the best site out there. I dont recommend using it on mobile much tho. Too much going on.

Those are just what i feel have the faster clear speeds and movement in navigating. Anyone is free to add w/e they like about it. I didnt include other classes because I havent played them much beyond -lvl to 56 and discarding them as energy batteries.

Thanks for that Omniblade, very informative. I watched a few youtube video's and also been told that the Ranger is a potion guzzler, so not too keen on one of them. I can't get my head around this afk thing, i thought that doing stuff like that was bad and could get you banned, i will need to look into that and see how it works

It is encouraged. As long as you are only using the games systems to do so.

If you want something really easy to farm with, try witch or wizard, no pots required, almost no gear required to farm, simple mobility, no stamina management, and will become very useful in NW at low GS.

i find this class to be boring to play tho. amazing clear speeds. just feels...less actiony compared to the melee combat classes somehow.
