If black desert is so bad, why is it consistently one of steam's top sellers?

This is one of the most confusing cases. People tell me the game is bad and you'll spend a lot more time afk farming than actually enjoying the game. How come it's always on top in sales then? Surely, there must be some merit to the game.

I´m pretty sure they "cheat", making either the value packs count as buying the comlete game again or reset the counter somehow.
Haven´t played in months yet I can suddenly earn new cards for the BDO badge.

It's from pearl purchases.
I spent a bit back at the start of January and I still have 7 card drops remaining.

though they do have mircotransactions to hope you end up paying a hell of a lot more.

There's not any other MMO, thats like bdo, and tbh what has alrdy been said. Everyone has a love/hate relationship with the game! Its good and then at times its not xD.

Because this game preys on the addictive aspect of gambling inert in most people. I uninstalled at around 1.3k hours. Maybe spent about $200 over the course of 6-7 months playing before I realized only morons keep gambling their time and life away with odds as low as this game has. It has to do more with addiction than it being " one of the greatest games ever made." It's really not. There's no endgame, there's no dungeons, barely anything to encourage playing cooperative with eachother.The pvp is abysmal due to character balance and server lag even with such a great combat system. The big distraction from all of these downsides is the gambling thing. It's a huge grind to gamble and see if the attempts you saved up weeks of playing for actually work to enhance your gear. Once you've done that, there isn't much game unless you just want to run around and 1 shot less-lucky players. The advancement system is not even about time invested it's just pure LUCK. Those are the players that defend the game and fanboi it up when you talk bad about BDO. Not everoyne can get lucky and most wont. There will be a niche decided by fate to be at the top. You can literally play 13 hours a day and still not be able to upgrade your stuff as countless attempts just fail over and over and you go right back to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ grind options available in the game to try it all again. It's a vicious cycle. Unless you got lucky. If you got lucky with your gear then you'll love the game. This is what divides the playerbase.

Look at Atlas, That game has no redeeming features, Devs who don`t care, And yet it`s still in the top sales list and has 35k-40k players a night mostly like this game it`s probably the very toxic playerbase keeping it alive. Being able to ruin others gametime seems to appeal to alot of gamers lately.
