Getting back to BDO

I have a few questions for returning. I haven't played in a while. I have followed the news and I have made a Guardian class character and it seems like a class I would like to play.
What I felt with my first character, and please excuse me if I get classes wrong I haven't played in a while.

Hunter, the female archer type feels great and awesome, might be playing more with that character once I have leveled my Guardian. But my biggest complaint was that the basic shield sword male character feels like running into a crowd of enemies and then just slice and dice. Tried, huntress was it? The one I mentioned. Now this is going to be basically just me not finding a class that fits me.

I consider Guardian because I hope it's not just "Hulk smash." Maybe wizard or witch? Huntress? Please, I know I seemed to complain here a lot but I just want to find a versatile character. Next I'm just pointing out what type I like, not complaining. In Skyrim I like that you can basically switch/mix and match your abilities. In The Witcher 3, Geralt can use magic and his swords. In AC: Odyssey you can switch from sneaking to a sword fight if you want to.

What class has the most versatile abilities in BDO? I am fully aware of the comparison problems because I basically compared technically classless games to the classed game but the emphasis was and is supposed to be on versatility.

Sorry for the rant but I wanted to be clear about what I meant! :)

EDIT: I'm sorry but I forgot to mention that in other mmorpgs I have mostly played PvE content and I do appreciate the advice you have given me about PvP. Have I undertood correctly that this game actually turns into basically a openworld free4all PvP? My only experiences about that kind of gameplay is GTA Online and RDR2 online part. Anyone can (and probably will at somepoint) kill anyone anywhere?

And here's a word of advice: every class in BDO is not either strong or weak but rather it is as strong as the player that plays it.
I'm really good with lahn and tamer, decent with sorceress, witch, shai, mystic/striker and maehwa/musa, but the rest just eludes me, except for some I still haven't tried like zerker and warrior and archer.
Every player has their strong class, so don't listen to people in chat saying that maehwa/musa best because fast pvp, or lahn/striker/mystic because pve related, and plaetora of many different explanations as to why this or that char is better than the rest.
It's BS.
You can outmatch a 300ap/dp maehwa with 260ap/dp lahn if you know what you're doing. If they never got to pvp or trained with combos, they'll loose any day.
Keep in mind that classes here are not like in other games, and you'll do fine.

Oh, and to answer your question: any character that can hold in both pve and pvp is a good choice if you want versatile char. Lahn and maehwa are a good choice, but both can't make it good in hystria, not as much as mystic and musa can. Witch can't hold 1v1 in pvp but is dope in pve. You just gotta choose.

I cant believe that snowflakes like that man still exits after so many years. There are thousands of proof that pvp meta classes exists, but true, you can overcome with the fail-balance with better gear, because in this game better gear always win, except against the previously mentioned meta classes. And what is this argument that you can win in 260 ap/dp against 300 ap/dp? Yeah, if the higher geared player is a baby seal half eaten by an orca and he is playing on a turned off monitor. On the same skill level players i can only imagine a legit scenario if the high ap/dp level is a dark knight and the lower is ninja or mystic or any other class in the game, because dk is a life skilling class no more.

and for the op: if u like exploring and stuff you can be ok with that game for a while, but if u want a good pvp game just search elsewhere, you need a minimum of 1 year with epic luck to overcome the crazy ass enhance system until then you will be just a punchbag on the field and every veteran player will rape even your revived corpse a dozen time because of the gear score difference. You do a full combo on his back: he lose -15% hp, he can get you with a weak aoe attack's edge and you lose 100% of ur hp... thats why to no lifers like such games: no skill required, just time/money investment and the item carried pvp system save their ass all the time.

I'm more PvE centered player, but as I explain in the edit above, does the world basically turn into a giant PvP map like gta? Are there non-pvp server? Can I prevent players from attacking me?

No, if somebody sexually want to assault your characters b.hole in his uber gear you cant do anything about it. This can happen anywhere on the world map(usually these encounters are rare), but on the main spots, it can happen very often. And after you have to spend 5 or more minutes to get back to your previous farming location or you can switch to an another server, but its no guarantee that you can find a safe place on ur new spot or not.
Things get worse when the wallet warrior is smart. They can dmg u to low hp and permastun u until the monsters finish you off, so you can lose crystals, item durability, money etc for being trolled by a higher level player while the enemy basically wont get any penalty. Thats a nice pvp system out there. But if he dont do this, just kill you personally, then you wont lose anything other than ur own freetime + the attacker will lose some laughable amount of karma which can be restored by killing a few monster (which they do anyway).
So if u want to be a pve player here, your only role will be the entartainment of the pedophile veterans. The less competitive monster areas will become boring and they wont give you anything... so its up to you if u want to waste a time in this game or not.
If there would be servers with pve only the situation would be different but sadly thats what the game can offer right now. Epic waste of time enhance system, gear based forced pvp, and pearl shop. :/
The only positive thing i can tell you that this mmo has the best looking female characters and i think this is the only one which have a working nude mod. :P Other than that, its an afk sH itshow.

no1 is even grinding hysteria anymore cause stars end money/hour is more then hysteria ;D

choose a class you like and dont listen to anyone just try them 1 by 1 untill you got yourself a main class and continue to play that class thats the best option.

unless you like pvp, only thing this game have to offer is nice looking girls, the pve is boring compared to most mmos out there.

What matters is your playstyle here. Lifers spend thousands of hours, net billions and don't do pvp because their either suck at it even with high ap/dp. Which was the point of why it's not relevant in scenarios when someone is lagging behind a bit. That's not because they have ♥♥♥♥ class but because they themselves are ♥♥♥♥ at pvp. No reason to get worked up over pure facts, zoomie.

if you keep telling this blatant lie to yourself to calm your inner peace then its up to you, maybe you will believe this in the end after so many repeats who knows...
but still if u want to git gud in this game: you need high ap/dp and a good pvp class. That 2 decide like 80% of the pvp wins, the rest is good connection, high fps and some pratice ofc. So if this is the only game where you can be good at it, then its really bad for you. Majority of the players still can compete each other without any gear/class carried pvp system.
i mean, if somebody really likes pvp, this game can be the worst for them. Zero fair play, unbalanced classes, crazy time/wallet gated content just to reach the bottom of the pvp tier. There are far more superior games for pvp.
This game is just a playground for incompetent wallet warriors who are too bad for real pvp games where the chances are equal to everybody.

The game cost me like 10€ and the same price on PS4 so basically ~20€ for just the story and PvE part there is it's pretty imo. So PvE, or the lack of it, isn't a problem for me.

Also for some reason the PS4 version seems to have a PvP on/of switch. I bought this game on pc like ages ago and that is why this post was made. Got kind of tired of Warrior class then and just dropped. Played lot of other games. Then they released this on PS4. Purchased, liked it. Then later saw the Guardian post on steam news and downloaded this game and made this here.
