What IS a "Trade item"
I tried looking online and didn't really get a clear answer to my surprise.

What exactly is a 'trade item'? Im asking because mounts and wagons drop them all, but I have no idea what items I have that are considered to be trade items.

Is there a flair on the item that signifies that it is a trade item?

Thanks for answers.

Trade items are vendor trash that you can only sell to specific vendors... in this case, "trade managers". I don't remember them having any specific text saying they're a trade item... but they'll be greyed out if you try and sell them to any other vendors. To be honest, they're just annoying to deal with since you have to find a trade manager to sell them to, but they are worth a bit more than generic vendor trash.
So I've actually started to see some items marked with the tag 'trade item' I'm just unsure now as to if there are some items that are considered trade items but without being marked as them. Like: is a 'general' item considered a trade item? Also thanks for the reply!

Top right hand corner and again, most trade items will have the "Contribution Point: XXXXX" tag on them because they can only be sold to trade managers.

I'm thinking things like: If my horse dies while carrying gold bars.....Do I lose millions?

Normally it's an item that says "Contribution Invested" in blue or red.

I'm really not far enough into the game to know any more about them. I do know that some trade items come from different regions and you can find different versions of them... like ancient coins. They'll be associated with a node, and if you have contributed to that particular node, and have the nodes linked to the nearest city, then they sell for a much higher amount in that city... other wise you only get a fraction of the value.

To me it seems like a needlessly complicated system which is just designed to make you need more inventory space.

Apparently the most basic "trade item" is an ancient silver coin which can't be sold to normal vendors and placed in central markets. I got kicked out of magnus due to this "trade item"
