Prolonged startup time and lag fix~
So recently with the newest update, my game client started taking around a good 5 minutes longer than it normally was to load the main menu.

While playing, I'd get occasional lag freezes I hadn't before like when opening the map or traveling to different areas. I had tried everything I could think of to fix it, checked my drivers, changed graphics settings, invalidate the games files, even tried running bdo in a compatibility mode and nothing helped.

Searched around for a fix and no one seemed to be having the problem I was having with the prolonged loading but they all offered the same solution... I just never followed it, because I figured it wouldn't help. But it actually did fix my problem.

Go to the games main folder that has your launcher.exe in it. If it is named "Black Desert Online Steam Launcher.exe" rename it "blackdesert_launcher.exe" and it should fix it the next time you load BDO up again.

Apparently it got renamed somehow (perhaps with the new update) and that's why I had random lag spikes that made me want to pull out all my hair. Hope this helps someone and saves them time and their sanity <3

Edit: Running the game using the original desktop shortcut may give you an error saying it is missing the "Black Desert Online Steam Launcher.exe" file if you renamed it instead of making a copy and renaming the copy, but the client seems to run fine if you manually run the shortened file you renamed from the game folder instead. If you don't want to go through your files everytime you want to play bdo using the "blackdesert_launcher.exe" just make a new shortcut of it to replace your old one~

I tried this out, and so far -- knock on wood -- it seems to be running much better than before. So thank you for bringing this to our attention. I would get intermittent stuttering, freezing and crashing, the latest batch is to blame, and now it's been running without those issues so far.

I'm impressed. : )

Dang! I didn't think this topic would have gotten any more attention/was lost in the flood of other posts but I'm glad it helped for you as well! I'm honestly not sure why it's so wacky but I still have to use this method as well whenever I play BDO. Otherwise it's still slow. Maybe it's a compatibility with windows operating systems or something else, Iunno. \o/
