1) First Verify the Intergity of the game's files via Steam. In Steam games library, right-click the Black Desert Online game > Properties > Local Files > Verify Intergrity of Game Files.
2) Since the prolonged black screen is often caused by missing Visual C++ distributable files, download all of them from the links below, and once the downloads are complete, double-click on them to install them.
https://download.microsoft.com/download/9/3/F/93FCF1E7-E6A4-478B-96E7-D4B285925B00/vc_redist.x64.exe
http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/E/6/2E61CFA4-993B-4DD4-91DA-3737CD5CD6E3/vcredist_x64.exe
http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/B/16B06F60-3B20-4FF2-B699-5E9B7962F9AE/VSU3/vcredist_x64.exe
http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/2/2/3224B87F-CFA0-4E70-BDA3-3DE650EFEBA5/vcredist_x64.exe
These files are both safe to run and install, but make sure that you download and install all of them though.
3) Delete your 'usercache' folder as well as the game's 'Cache' folder. These are perfectly safe to delete as a new set will be created that isn't going to be corrupt.
Delete the 'usercache' folder titled 'Black Desert' located in your Documents folder.
C:\Local Drive > Users > (your username) > Documents > Black Desert
Also delete the 'Cache' folder in the game's directory as well.
C:\ > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > Common > Black Desert Online > Cache
All the best!!
The Visual C++ Redistributables are all from a different year, although their names are the same, make sure you download the fourth one as well and install it. Rename them if you have to. : )
Is your Black Desert Online game running with Admin privileges?
Ah, I see now. I misread you, sorry.
Very rarely, when the game is left running in the black screen, in such a case, after a while the game runs normal again. Have you left it on the black screen for a few minutes? Obviously not for hours, heh.
At any rate, the fix below has helped me with this issue in the past.
Clear the Steam Download Cache, right-click the Steam client in the Taskbar > Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache.
BTW, disable any GPU overlays, such as MSI Afterburner or Geforce Experience.
Hahaha! : p
Glad to help. See, this is the kind of reward I get -- a marriage proposal! : p Anyway, great to see you back in the game and all.
Hello there, I believe all of the above methods the original poster tried has helped in some way. So it could be a combination of a few or all of them. Please try out the steps I outlined above and see if they work.
