What is the point of Shai?

Serious question. I love playing the support role in games offering buffs, debuffs, healing, and CC over just more damage. I main support in games like league of legends and play only enchanter style champs. My question is what is the point of this class if she is just advertised as a "fun life skiller" and not pulling her own weight in pve or pvp? I haven't heard any good things so far.

So she can't duel, that is..... fine, but hopefully she brings something useful to pvp while in a group. Haven't seen her awakened yet but its a non combat weapon so hopefully it brings some serious effects since it does no damage. She also can't defend any spot solo.

As for being a lifeskiller, what does she do better than anyone else? Can't ride horses so she will be slower getting around and the free professional cooking/alchemy is only useful if you don't have a character at that point. Class based life skill buffs?

I still plan to main Shai cause the concept looks awesome but I don't understand the point of making an entire class that is only useful afk and gated out of content.

She will be useful in group PvP for support I'm sure. The witch is usually known as a class that is dangerous for the damage she can output, but her healing also brings alot to the table for skirmishing. I'm sure Shai will bring that same kind of support, just maybe not the damage.

PvE grind speeds at endgame hardly matter, because people are still going to play whatever they like. You can tell someone that mystic will out grind a warrior for example. Yet, that won't deter the warrior player from playing warrior. Even though he's making less money then the other classes per hour at that spot.

I honestly don't see Shai being gated out of anything. Considering 90% of this games content is solo based anyways. No bossing/hunting group is going to refuse to take you.

If you do have friends to grind at lvl 56+, most will probably be happy to grind with you, since you will bring sustain for them, allowing them to not drink potions, thus saving them money and time.

I think she be played hard for a short time then she become afk drone
A niche character for niche people
She also always be known as the loli and that has its own weird cult like community

A word of Advise: Get it now.

There is a precreation event. If you get the game and create a shai now you will get rewards. If you sign up to the bdo newsletter you will get some more. Both promos end before tomorrow's maintenance.
