NA/EU/SEA Server Question
Hi,
A good friend of mine from the US sent me this game awhile ago as a gift but I never got around to installing it. So it has been stuck in the library for a long time. My issue is that I live in the Philippines so normally I won't have access to the game unless I use some sort of VPN service (which I won't do), so I was wondering if if the newly put up CBT for the SEA region would let me legally access the game now or is the steam version stuck to only connect to the NA/EU servers?

Second question: Will there ever be a SEA version here on Steam? :angry_creep:

Hi there Adamethius,

To my current knowledge, almost all patches that go through on the non-steam version of the game, also directly patch alongside steam updates for BDO. So both receive the same patch on the same day. In an interview with one of the devs from Pearl Abyss, he stated that they would be conducting CBT for SEA region servers towards the end of 2017. Nothing is confirmed yet when it comes to how accessible the SEA servers will be depending on your platform/where you reside, but my guess would be that once the non-steam platform gets the SEA region patch, that will also be true for users on Steam who have BDO. I can't see why they wouldn't include an SEA region patch into Steam, so I'm sure it will be arriving soon since the CBT was just recently done for your region!

Here is a link to the news article where the Pearl Abyss Dev was interviewed and mentioned the SEA region release - http://mmoculture.com/2017/07/black-desert-quick-interview-with-developer-pearl-abyss-at-chinajoy/

Hope all this information helps! Can't wait to see you in-game once the SEA region servers release. :happybs:

Yeah, thanks Hellosk. That makes sense. It's just a matter of waiting now I guess. :2017stickydrink:

I think the SEA server will be run by a different publisher from KakaoEU, so I have no idea if that will be available on Steam, but it will not be connected to these servers/publisher in any way as far as I know.

Yeah, that was what I was afraid of. But I do know of a way to put a command line to let the game launch and have you choose which server to connect to. At the moment, it only has either NA or EU as your option. I am hoping that once SEA launches, the command line would launch an option that will show a new option for SEA.

So until the official launch for SEA, I guess that would just be a pipe dream. I can only hope. :steamsad:

Again, that won't work because NA/EU are published by the same Publisher (KakaoEU), whereas the SEA server isn't. So your client will never connect to the IP address of the servers over there. You may be able to play it outside of Steam if you use a proxy, but it will be completely separate from your current BDO account.
