Yea i know it's way better but had the game way before it came to steam which sucks, and i hated how we can't connect our steam accounts to our original. The base game is lacking horribly in alternative payment methods. And it's saddens me how they aren't doing anything else about it. Paysafecards are terrible as hell. Thankfully blizzard doesn't screw around when it comes to payment options. I have 100 different ways of buying stuff on WoW or overwatch without a single problem. BDO is a huge pain in the ass and super expensive and they don't offer you anything else. Nor do they care, lets be real, i kind of enjoy BDO (although the devs have turned me off plenty of times throughout the years) but how they conduct business and their lies about caring what the community wants is annoying!
I created this thread because when i used google everyone said that you can't and the people who said that you can don't tell you how. So if someone uses google and types in the defining keywords they will come across this thread explaining an altnerative method for purchase which not even the lazy devs will find and tell you. So i have to do it myself to tell other players.
Steam players are lucky af, it's a bunch of extra steps instead of relying on an unreliable paysafecard. And i live in a pretty wealthy and prosperous state, and paysafecards are pretty much all gone. Managers and employees would tell me they scrapped that garbage years ago. And then the international fee crap, i don't think steam players get charged an international fee afterwards (hits your account at random).
Ever since my bank account got broken in through blade and soul, and another korean mmorpg game, i entirely stopped giving out my information. The only reason i play korean mmorpgs is because of the customization and combat that is all, if western games competed in that area, i would drop and ignore all nonwestern mmorpgs. Many accounts got broken into and people found out on reddit you could bypass the ncsoft 2step verification to break into accounts.
They emptied my entire bank account and made me go negative $300. NCsoft tried to reject my banks request to have the money back until i showed them proof through google that my email wasn't broken into, their support staff member changed with each reply during the processing moment (when i asked them to stop the charges and that my account was broken into, over a week of nonstop different staff members would restart the conversation from the beginning). Gave that all to my bank and my bank got the money right away into my account. I made a thread about it on their official website, the moderators deleted my images of everything, but everyone was pretty much like (wow you're like the 100th person today who got their bank account broken into).
I feel much better doing business with American companies, even trashy no good companies like EA. I strongly dislike relying on other countries to provide a good mmorpg. But thankfully WoW classic is great and i've been getting into that although the queue times are really annoying because the game is so damn packed with people that it can sometimes take over 8 hours to into your server... But the awesome part is that every single spot in the game is filled to the brim with players, can't wait for endgame pvp in that game.
When WoW classic released it took me like 3 days to reach lv 5 because my power randomly went out during a heavy rainstorm, and i got randomly disconnected and for some reason i didn't get a grace period.
Yea steam is great i agree, you can also make your steam wallet grow through selling items on steam and buy stuff. There are so many ways you can pay for bdo through steam compared to the base game. The base game has only 2 methods of payment that is all, steam players get 500 different ways to get money into their wallet.
