Do Australian's get decent ping on the SEA server and will you be able to get by only speaking English?

Short answer - yes and yes
Long answer - One of the official languages the game is set to by default in the SEA region is English and the majority of people from the countries in the region speak English ( ive seen a lot of guild recruitment where one of the requirements was to speak English) so you should be fine.
The main cable that runs to from Australia to Singapore is the SEA-ME-WE 3 cable, this cable is currently severed and is expected to be repaired ~Jan 9th 2018, this is the reason you have high ping right now. When it is repaired the ~ ping to Singapore is ~65 from Perth, and ~95 from Sydney, add in 10-20 ms to connect to the game servers and that's around 80-115ms with a bit extra if you live Rural.
However a fun little extra is that they are currently in the process of laying a new cable to Singapore to be completed ~July 2018,its called the ASC and this cable is expected to be more resistant to damage, have 80x the bandwidth and around 30% less ping, so when that is finished..... well, if you live near Perth like me the sub 60ms dream is real.

Anyway, hope this information helped you, have a nice day and hope i see you on the SEA servers when they launch =)

The closed beta for the game has ended, the game will be released Jan 17th 2018, and yes you will need to buy the game again.
All data from the beta has been wiped, the only people that will be ahead of you are people that have purchased higher packages of the game, as they get early access to the servers ( the highest tier - Legendary for instance gives you access a week early so they will be starting Jan 10th).

Also just in case you run into the issue, you will need a VPN in order to create your account ( not to log in, purchase anything or play, just create the account), its more or less a token effort to say they are blocking people outside their region so they don't get sued i guess.

pretty tempting though

You only need to VPN to create your account, so for like the 1 minute it takes you to put in your email and a password, so depending on what browser your using just get a free browser VPN like Zenmate or Hotspot or something, set your server to somewhere in the SEA region ( Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, whatever is available for free). and just use it for the setup, easy.

how was BDO when it was first released? what really turned me away when i got into it like 6 months ish ago + was all the free silver and gold bars from daily log ins and crap so i didnt have to do anything and skipped like the first few tiers of gear and stuff and still ignoring drops

At the start? Pretty sparce.
Also of note is that this is a different publisher than the NA game, i mean the NA devs even reduced enemy health / damage and made them easier to kill.
I imagine there wont be a lot of that free silver and stuff at first.

Hi there, I was looking for a thread like this and was given hope. Just wanted to ask how certain you are of the information you provided; I live on the south east coast of Australia and wanted to know if it is worth it to wait and get the SEA version of the game to be able to play with around 100-150ping? Thank you in advance :D
Pain Dec 29, 2017 @ 3:16am
Hi, Yes I'm sure of it as long as the cable repairs don't get delayed ( the company has mentioned in a post that it's subject to permits approval) then you can expect that kind of ping from Jan 9th.
Only point to mention is that you may need to use a service such as Mudfish to ensure you are taking the best route ( for instance I'm with Optus, and they just LOVE to route all foreign traffic through the US, so say im playing a game on Japanese servers its 380ms without Mudfish, and 140ms with it as there are cables directly from Sydney - Japan).

If your on the fence about it, this is a video someone made during the closed beta.

From what i can tell he was from the east coast and seems to be getting around 120ms, it's a comparison of SEA vs NA for an Aussie..... and really its no comparison at all, these servers cant come soon enough for me.

thats pretty bad

Tell me about it lol.
The worst part is PvP ( which you might as well just give up on), even though hits are registered client side, player positioning is registered server side, which means enemies are always half a second away from where it looks like they are ( you can move pretty far in half a second) and you are always half a second behind where it shows you are.
This means not only will you miss every attack, but its impossible to dodge enemy attacks.
This is a big problem in this game, because everything from grind spots to high value gathering is usually highly contested and thus fought over in PvP, so at high level you will find yourself acting a bit like a paper tiger, act intimidating but moment someone calls your bluff run like a coward.
And that's just plain no fun at all.
