There is combat level and then there is lifeskills.
Combat level grind is easy compared to runescape. It takes about 80 hours of grinding to go from 1 to 60 which is considered to be competitive. It takes another 80 hours to hit 61 and level 61s are the top highest level players in the game, there are only 2 level 62s in all of NA but even hardcore players dont try to hit 62.
Lifeskills like gathering/processing/cooking, those can take many many hours and don't have cap on how high you can go. Many of these lifeskills peak out on benefits fairly quickly. For instance for processing, you get max benefit at artisan 2 which could be done afk in less than a few days if you afk process the right stuff. Gathering also peaks out at artisan 1 which might take dozens of hours of gathering, at artisan 1, you get the best possible mats from each gather, however you can raise it higher than artisan 1 to have chance of not using energy to gather.
So for lifeskills, it probably takes 20-30 hours each to "peak" out where you get a vast majority of the benefits and get tiny marginal benefits afterwards.
The grind in BDO is alot easier than runescape, however ignorant people think its "infinite" which is true, but if you do research you realize getting 99% of the benefits in BDO is alot easier than runescape.
Also a good portion of lifeskills in bdo like processing/fishing/cooking/horse training can be done afk or certain parts can be afk. For instance you can continuously process/cook as long as you have materials on you so you dont have to actively cook each meal.
If you hit level 60, which is very easy btw, and you have trash, weak gear. You're a trash, weak player.
Your gear is what makes you strong. Your levels mean nothing.
Level 60 in this game really only takes a hundred hour to 200 hours, not only that but while you do it if you're focused, you got pets to loot for you (you have to buy pets you can't obtain them through rewards or etc beside dailies), and you got a good system to bank this loot, you'll literally make billions while getting to level 60 (I would compare 2 bil in this game to around 200 mil gp in Runescape back in like 2010, Like you can afford full Bandos or Armadyl with that but not Torva or Pernix (Actual in Black Desert : You can afford Tri Grunil or Tri Liverto but not Full Boss Gear or Tri Kzarka).
The thing is grinding is not as AFK as it is in Runescape, and literally by the time you reach level 50 in Black Desert you're basically in the wilderness in the world and people can pk you anywhere (except when you die from another player you literally do not lose anything it's just annoying, maybe a broken crystal costing only like 200k-5mil). I would compare getting Level 60 in this game to getting Level 99 Runecrafting in OSRS, it takes freaking forever, it's hella tedious, it's an extremely mindless grind, you gain so little exp that you question life, but if you do it right, you'll be hella satisfied and hella rich by the end of it (or compare it to getting max attack strength defense and constitution just buy killing green dragons). (also, pretty much every single guild including top guilds will want you if you're level 60 got good gear (450+ gearscore))
Another thing in this game is that in Runescape your level makes you strong, like a level 138 can punch a dragon to death, in this game once you're level 60 you can literally get killed by a level 14 miner imp if you're not decked out in gear. Worry not though because by the time you're level 60 from grinding at Sausans or pirates mindlessly you're pretty much guaranteed to have a couple billions worth of gear.
Life skills in this game are like your fletching, smithing, etc. Except you can't just buy the materials off the market place like you can in runescape, you have to earn contribution points by completing quests, gather workers to obtain the materials for you, and wait for them to come in. Also in Black Desert you're limited to how much life skilling you can do per day by how much Energy you have, if you only have 50 energy you'll literally only be able to make 50 planks, etc.
(Life skilling in this game is nothing like runescapes)
edit: 200 hours casually, like I only play this game for like an hour a day for that 200% exp and managed
Doing it since months, what else is there to say haha.
