However, you can buy better saddles from the Marketplace (in the Mount category).
You can craft saddles in the Horse Gear shop.
To raise amity you need to play the Amity game, provided you have enough knowledge of things the NPC is interested in. Alternatively, you can just wave at them for a straight exchange of Energy to Amity. Though for most of the early NPCs, the amity game is easy enough.
Cheap plain tools are sold by the Materials Vendor. As soon as you can use them though, you want to use crafted tools as they let you gather faster. You can craft them at a Tool workshop or buy them from the Marketplace. There are also quests that reward tools.
To raise the level of your home, you have to put stuff in it. However, if you are thinking of getting a rank 1 house, you will have to spend money on it. Lots of it. And you will end up with a cluttered non-functional house. Just visit any of the rank 1 houses to see what I'm talking about.

Do the quests to get free sh!t and use alts to make sure you don´t do ALL the life skill categories on just one character.
Also take a closer look at the guys selling crafting tools, get higher amity to get access to those.
They´re not cheap but help out greatly when in a bind and are much better than the crafted lvl1 tools or the crap tools they sell normally.
