However... you will soon notice that Energy and Contribution Points are your biggest problem to do anything, without going to much into detail on how to acquire them (there's great YT tutorials for that) they are making sure you will generate passive income in one way or another WHILE you play the game.
In BDO you want to make sure that you have a constant revenuestream one way or another, noone can give you money or gift items so everything you have will be hard earned. I know this is confusing but i had the same questions. The best way is to take your time, enjoy the mainquest and not rush through things. Otherwise you end up with a lvl 56 character with no gear and no idea how the game works. And that's utterly boring. The Game rewards you for pretty much everything you do actively. So enjoy that.
Once you have an established character, and extra money, you can levels alts quikly and easily.
Example, I made a new alt. once he did few starting questsd, and made it to Velia, he was eqippped in gear is Used when I was level 55.
Now, there is benifit to having more characters. other Characters generate energy not playing, so you can use them for tasks that use energy when your main is out. Night vendor is popular.
Also, leveling multiple characters to 56 or 60 will increase your house fame, which gives you more free money every day.
PS: i will not rush ;)
Having various characters is good, and since you are starting it let you feel how everyone feels like. Remember that your main's a ss will be the one you will be watching for hundreds and hundreds of hours in the vast world of Black Dessert.
I suggest you to go ahead and try every char until you get around to Heidel.
Yes, it will be tedious, but don't worry too much about that. Check out how each character works. How they feel, do you like how it plays? Their skills? Do you think you would like to main that character? Then go ahead and max it.
BDO is one of those games where having all characters to the max lvl is a must later on, but at first you should focus on learning the character you like the most. Have fun with it, learn everything on the game with it. And simply play however you want.
Later on having various chars help you to maximize a lot of things on the game, the enhancing system, the contribution and energy system, the family system, the inventory system. And a lot more things.
That said, NO CHAR IS BETTER THAN OTHER. All do good in both PvP and PvE, skill is key when playing against others or with others. And in order to get skilled with your char, you need to learn how to use it correctly.
But, in short, that's my suggestion. Try every single character until you get to Heidel. Then pick one and play with it to the max (after a couple of months you should be okay to go ahead and max other chars)
Today my level 56 character received a whole load of armor and gear from the Black Spirit. At first I thought "this is just going to take up all my inventory space" (not sellable) then I remembered my third level character doesn't have any proper gear so I sent it all to her.
