FPS drops while game in background
I've tried for a search and couldn't find anything on this but, This game when it's in the background drops the fps from 60 to 1. No matter the area, no matter what i'm doing in the active window. I click right back onto the game and Boom, back to 60 fps.

I have Nvidia - 1060
CPU - 2700k
RAM 32gb

upgrade your cpu

That a joke? lol. For one the CPU barely gets a dent when the game is in foreground let alone background.

might be a game file problem. try to clear chace and do a full game file restore from steam. see if its missing any file

Thank you for the help. I talked to support and got the... "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I've reported the issue to our developers as a bug." from them after tried all there tech stuff. They want me to wait and look for updates HAHA. i doubt that, Looking all up and down google and steam for anyone with a related problem, doubt my single problem is a high priority.

Dont let it bother you, Same thing happened to me on two different computers with high end CPU's

BDO only uses about 15% of my CPU when I'm playing it and like 8% while it's in background/taskbar.

I usually play Wildlands or something while that's in background while watching netflix.

The best way around this problem is not to look at your fps.
I have climbed to the top of the highest mountain and looked at the sky, and watched my fps go from 100 plus down to 20 and back again, where as it should not move at all.

that really isn't the problem. the problem is that the game is doing something it's not suppose to. after an hour the game reloads or something and i'm dismounted, my only guess is cause the 1 fps is doing something wrong to it.

Happens to me occasionally, but not that bad. I can usually play a game with BDO in the backgroud and only get a 10fps hit most of the time, though skype begins to lag if I don't touch BDO after a while. Granted it takes about 4 hours of having BDO running in the background until I get any other program lag. It's a minor inconvienience at best for me at least.

AMD FX-8350 @ 4.5GHz
Nividia GTX 970
16GB DDR3 Ram

If you have acess to an SSD, run it off of that. Could be that it has to do with paged memory on a hard drive.

Yeah, i have it running on an SSD. helps a lot when driving those mounts at a million miles an hour. lol
DId you find a fix for this? the issue's source has probably changed since when this thread was made but for some reason my dumb ass can't find any other threads relating to this issue. (while my hardware isn't high end I didn't have this issue until recently and i'm terrified to verify the games files cuz whenever i've done that in the past bdo stops working properly)

In win 11 there is also setting you can test, put game in window mode and add setting in somewhere I can not remember there is "optimize windowed mode"..then put game down.

i don't have any issues now, mainly cause since then i have totally upgraded the whole PC.
i-9 9900k
Nvidia 2070 super
32gb ram.

Really only time i get frame drops is on Ultimate now. or if i'm going in and out of map a lot.
well i figured out a temp fix for it. If i just lower the graphics settings to the "hella low" option, and don't minimise the game, it doesn't close on it's own anymore.
