pirate island question guys?
my question is is it worth the travel time ect ect to grind it for a few hours a day? also whats the profit like in terms of profit per hour if any1 got a rough idea

It's pretty good... if you don't mind the pk folks. Also, take your horse. They drop bandanas but the turn in spot is another island. If you get the node invested to a higher level you'll get more drops.

its overrated imo, valencia has lots of good spots that give money/exp (got a necklace drop for 50mil)

The travel time is quite long, especially if you do not have an Epheria Sailboat. If you go there for just a couple of hours and then travel back again, you will probably make less money and exp than if you had gone to Sausans or Bandits.
Pirates is great if you stay for a long time though.
