Standardized Timber Squares
I'm trying to get a LOT of these for my epheria sailboat. I've been cutting trees to get the logs do i need to do a quest or something for knowledge on the timber squares or can I just start processing the logs and try and get timber squares.

Chopping logs will give you Usable Scantling, and then chopping the scantling will give you Standardized Squares.

Keep in mind that you have a chance to proc multiple scantlings or squares if your processing level is high enough. I recommend at least professional, but preferably artisan before you start chopping. You can work on leveling that by processing the other materials (Steel, Flax and Pine) and leave the logs for last.

What do I want to process Steel, Flax and Pine into before selling it on the market place?

Your sailboat will also require a lot of steel ingots, flax fabric, and pine plywood. He's saying you'll get your processing up while making those, which can then help when you need to turn all of your logs into scantling, and then standardized timber.

The idea is to hire workers to nodes to collect steel ore, flax seeds, and pine and gather it AFK to your storage. From your storage, pull out those items and process them through simple whatnots to increase your level. I'm not going to lie about this, you are selling them to vendors and making little to no gain from this process. You might even lose money, but the lvling is worth the wait.

I've already gotten all the materials for my boat. All I need is the standardrized timber squares.

I'm in the same position as you, everything else is easy enough to get through the MP or workers, it's those logs that are a pain. Currently only have 150 standardized timber squares, but that's just from when I'm bored and have energy left over. I feel like I could collect a lot more if I went "hardcore" at it.

A higher gathering rank will mean you can aslo collect more each trip since the higher rank you are you have a chance not to use energy on a gather.
The hedgehog is also op(kinda) for any type of gathering, although expensive, it's 100% worth it imo. (Yes I spent £40 just to get the hedgehog, but the other stuff was nice too.)

(kinda); When it procs it'll usually only proc 1 extra log, but every little helps. (It does much better on other general gatherings.)

If you have good level in processing, you need around 15000 logs in place of the 80000 (800*10*10)

Still, quite a grind ;D

At artisan 1 or above you only need 12800 logs (according to this sailboat guide[dulfy.net]) but it's always better to collect more than you need just incase your RNG procs are rubbish. :D

How long does it take to get to Artisan processing?

Not very long at all if you just afk process. I hit artisan about a little less than a week back and now I'm artsan 7. I'd suggest melting down weapons for the pure crystals and iron shards and selling them on the market. Pure crystals give you the best xp return it's also a good way to make a profit if done correctly. (You'll also get trace of...something these never sell for me so are trash items imo.)

Or you can just afk process flax as that's 500 xp (pure crystals are 1500 xp although it might only mean if you make them yourself, but I 100% saw a fast increase in my processing level when I started melting weapons rather than processing anything else.)

I'd also advise you to do all of your processing quests from the black spirit as they give good exp.

Will do. Thanks for all the help. :)

Yes you need chopping professional .Aparently none of the derps got the core of your question, you won't be able to make the squares if you don't have it.

How do I get chopping professional?

You need professional gather and chain quest if i remember right it should start either in Trent or in Keplan.Think it was Keplan.

In order to make the Timber squares you will need to complete a set of quests starting from the Northern Guard Camp, from there it leads to the farming quest and then it will have to meet someone in Heidel. Before you start working on anything I would get your processing up to at least Artisan 1, which is around 10ish million coins in Flax. The best for xp is Flax, Cotton, or Silk. I went from around beginer in Processing to Artisan in about 12ish hours. After that I just bought all the materials other than the Timber squares. I woudln't worry about leveling your gathering as it doesn't really increase any chance of getting extra materials. The only thing that leveling gather helps is to get the good magic axes. I went from beginer 1 at the start of the log grind all the way up to professional 10 just grinding the trees. Took me about 12k logs and many, many hours of dedicated time, along with my partner's dedication while I was at work. I have 200 energy and would use it about twice a day. With magic axes and worker elixirs (which cut down gathering time, a big requirement to save time), it took me about 40 hours to get the required logs, give or take some hours. Plus I had the hedgehog half way through, so that helped a ton.
