My main city is Heidel, which i prefer to Calpheon.
Heidel is smaller and easier to navigate and has a more central map position.
Both Velia and Gilsh are quite close, making good secondary cities.
Calpheon is still a bit more CP efficient, but i find it too far in the West for my taste.
I started with potatoes in Velia for beer production.
Connected Velia, Heidel, Calpheon, Gilsh, Kaplan, Altinova to make transportation cheaper (plus trading)
From there, slowly added all needed ressources to be as independant as possible while growing storage in Heidel, Velia and Gilsh (maxed in Heidel and Velia)
I lifeskill a lot, so i started by making my own tools too.
Most of the other stuff, i switch and make as needed.
I keep around 5 free CP to connect any area i will farm on for some times.
Not saying it is the best, but it works well for me.
Heidel is probably best, because it's in the midle of everything. Heidel also gets some rather unique nodes near it (honey, Wool)
I use Vellis for beer production and start my fishing boat trips. Olvia for trade box production and mining. as it has lot of free space.
I've linked Olvia, Vellis, Heidel, Trent, Altnova, Glish, Calpheon. Saving to link Keplan now, but I do spend 12 CP in fences for farming, and about 12 CP in Island nodes for fishing., so not quite there yet
Thing about CP, find there is never enough. Once you get some, find somehting new to do with it
