I've been fishing there for the past day and it's just been pumping out tons of blue/yellow fish for me.

Thats what i've been getting aswell, but i got 5 relics on the other place im fishing in 2 hours, so im guessing thats better?

I'd say that's more based on RNG. I've gone multiple days in a row without seeing a single relic.

I'd rather have a heap of blue/yellow fish compared to the Fish History Museum I was starting with all those damn fish bones I was catching before.

Yeah, i understand that. But RNG or not, 30 relics in about 2 days. All from the other spot, thats not bad. But a 50 durability rod does get to 0 durability in about 3 hours when the fishing place is abundant, so you kinda get more if you are actually here to switch rods

Relics are considered a Junk item. They are a failure, like catching seaweed, fish bones, or boots.

Velia hotspot gives you a better chance of catching blue/gold fish, reducing your chance to catch junk. so you'll catch fewer relic shards fishing there

If you turn on throw away junk when AFK fishing, you'll throw away shards

Game considers them junk items.

why are you doing this

I always turn on Throw away junk and always come back to shards. It throws away anything with a white name, so fish or junk with white text in the name.

Shards are green and aren't thrown away.

Hmm, im not sure about white fish -but "trow away trash" is destroying 100% of seafood category of fish for sure, of any quality - so no gold octopus for example, cos its gonna be trashed after catch. Seafood = all crabs, octopuss, lobsters, jellyfish, shellfish etc etc

Its worth of note that white fish are also quite valuable -just never sell them ;D
They are good for making "Good Feed" - 1 fish, 6 meat and some extra resources.
Pets eats feeds like crazy so its best to make them feed by yourself

Just wanted to hop in here and clear up any confusion, Relic Shards are not considered Junk and are not in the same classification of item as fish bones, seaweed, and other such loot.

Feel free to check that box, this exact feature was included specifically as a means to help keep that valuable inventory space nice and tidy!
