If you do you miss out on a ton of energy and contribution points.
I hit 55 in like 7 hours on olivia servers... first time playing bdo.
However DO realize level isnt the only thing important. If you care about not being in poverty, you also want to focus on your contribution points/level and that can only be done through either questing or crafting.
Also if you dont want to be in the poverty zone, you want to raise your energy levels too and that can only be done by exploring.
there is no hard cap, however you dont get anything new skills/perks past lvl 60 besides being higher lvl.
