PSA: How to find a great guild, why you need an active one and why you should NOT join new guilds!
a little bit of my experience. i have played a bit closed beta and on and off bdo since release. I have 9-10 month of BDO activity.

The game is grindy, grindy as $$#@$( and has a high lvl learning curve. you need to know how to do it right because not doing things right will lead to lost time, bad mistakes, etc.

With this Steam release every pleb (no offense plebs) wants his own guild and wants to do it right. The truth is 90% of plebs will be gone within 3 months, 60-75% are gone after 1-2 months. WHy ? Because in order to be active and competitive in BDO (If you want to pvp/siege/etc) you need to be online 24/7 and make the most out of it.

Joining a new guild (steam guild) will bring nothing interested in your life IF and only IF you want high end BDO experience, competitive gameplay, knowledge, max the $$*(#& out of node workers, etc. Steam and New guilds wont be here in 1-3 months and thats the reason you should start looking for guild who is here from beginning (most of them have 2nd guild where they recruit players on main guild) or a very active one. Since 90% of the items are selling ppl are sharing also secrets and how to max your life skills and pre-reqs for anything you want to do on high end game.

What Steam Guilds offer? A pleb chill community who can offer fun now but wont be here (90% wont) in 3 months.

PS: i dont promote any guild, just make sure its active and have players with high lvl AP/AP/DP.

+1 agreed, i have a group of friends that had this before it came onto steam with a few level 56+ each and the i went it 3 days alone and did average, i got into discord with them and the advice and things they can give is the best, also a little bit of level boosting when i got past 52 :D
also for this game, ask google anything you want about this game, 2 search terms i have used for great effect black desert online (insert any quest, item location/aquisition, ect)

number 2 is www.somethinglovely.net/ which from what i can tell shows almost everything you can want on the map, which is very helpful when you are starting out and most of the maps fogged out

I pity you for saying new guilds should not be joined.

Most retarded ♥♥♥♥ ever

Or don't do PvP.

how the hell does this guy even expect that new players would be able to do endgame sieging and pvp? let them join new guilds and learn the game at their own pace lol.

Exactly this. Everything OP is saying is:

New players can ♥♥♥♥ off and so can people trying to get something fun started for theirselves. Only old players can do stuff on here and if you're not old, you should just uninstall the game because I don't think you should do anything on the game as new player

The OP is just saying if you want to play this game hardcore then you have a better chance in an established active guild than struggling along in a new guild with casual players. Its a fair comment but I feel it's coming from the viewpoint of the anti Steam brigade. Seems they have a few members who have nothing better to do than come onto our forum and whine about how whiney we all are. Rather ironic really.

I can't see how it matters to them what steam players do. We are going to buy lots of marketplace items from high level players to feed our new toons. It's a bit of a win for them really.

But seriously just look at his name. What do you expect from someone who calls himself 'elite'. Big bad hero got himself no life. Whoop'de'doo....

This goes for other MMOs too though, in most cases related to raids instead of PvP of course.
Only difference being that you can join raids with mixed guilds even though it is a bit harder at least until you've got a bit of a reputation for being a good player that then gets invited anyway.

I have to agree with the OP.

BDO has always been a hard place to recruit new players. Even since launch. The ammount of people that breeze through this game is astonishing.

I think thoug that one inherent problem is that all the high pop guilds have high lvl and gear requirements. For a new player that can be very hard to obtain so I can see why we have loads of guilds popping up all over the place now its far better to grind as a group than solo and if you were to joi half of these long established guilds you wouldnt get a look in till you get the requirements. So what to do as a new player, if your here for a short time or the long haul?

IMO look for a gaming community that is in BDO. A community thathas been arround since before BDO but has been here a while. Those types of guilds tend to have requirmenst for level/gear but are also more interested in the player themselves rather than the character and can be a good place top start. Speaking of which

i know shameless plug :P But we are a guild thats been here since launch, and a community of gamers thats been together since 2013.

As with any othr MMO, BDO still suffers from the guild hopper syndrome. So many people jumping from guild to guild looking for th next best thing.

we made a guild with a friend week ago and doing quite well with it for our own needs atm. now that theres new wave of players, recruiting has never been so easy.

everyone should do as they wish. i like to learn as i play and not rush into endgame as fast as possible. that would take the fun out of it. this game has that exploration feel that morrowind has. im gonna enjoy that as much as i can.

1: english is not my 1st language and if i used 2 many big words i am sorry.

2: BDO is a mmo with a huge learning curve and ANOTHER credit card payment CURVE and ANother RNG succes enchant curve.

3: New players are leaving in a huge procent. Steam is the 3rd wave of new players AND ALL THE WAVEs that entered in the game left withing 30-60-90 days.

BDO is a great PVE game and has just 5% of it pvp BUT credit card (limitations that u have to unlock by paying) and stupid low lvl rng make not worth invest tons of time.

Imagine, grinding 100 hours until eyes bleed and LOSING all the cash in 1 minute due to failure of enchanting :(

If u have some questions, let me know.

I've been playing since a week after launch my sentiments are exactly the same as Apterous I like just chilling and doing sidestuff barely bothered with main questing cause i'm having more fun stopping and smelling the roses... dunno if that says something about the early storyline quests more than my prefrences though!

I just like trying all the sidequests and exploring what I can do with jobs or... just exploring I sort of feel when i'm on a quest I have somewhere to go but I feel if I am not on a quest I can just mess around and explore the vast lands and seas!

i'm also one of those weirdos who will read lore and find books in libraries of the game like the one in calpheon! and years later I still have many adventures ahead taking my ride set to cruise!
