How do you buy items from the marketplace?

So, I wanted to buy some beer but I can't click on it. There are listings for it but I'm unable to click and buy any of them.

Some items are rare and wanted, and you have to bid on them. :)
There is a button in the Market Place with an explanation on how to bid. Keep in mind it is still RNG if you win the bid or not.
Beer is one of the easiest things to cook yourself and the side products (turn ins for xp, cp and goodies) make it worth your while. http://bddatabase.net/us/recipes/culinary/

I'm not able to bid either. I literally can't click it. It doesn't highlight or anything. There's no B icon on the thing I want to buy either.

You need to go to the actual martketplace person in the different cites (Little gold purse icon). You can't bid/buy on things from esc > marketplace. That's just for you to keep an eye on things or look up something to see if it's on the marketplace, but to actually buy you'll need to go to a marketplace person.
