Tips for beginner's?

I finally got this game downloaded and played briefly last night before I was too tired. I have to admit I was a Lyle over whelmed. Maybe it was just peak hours or something but where I started was absoulty crammed and spells and attacks flying every which way. I wasn't even 100% which were my own abilities vs someone near me.

Combined with UI notifications going off constantly and tutorials popping up it made it hard to sort out info.

I did see an option to toggle some UI off but I didn't mess too much as a total noob here, and mess something up.

What could you suggest to help new players just loading up for the first time?


And specifically for me, where can I find a nice quiet area to go kill things and just practice my combos and get my muscle memory going for these controls.

just check out some beginners guides/tips on youtube. that'll get u on your way.

in the settings > game there is an option to disabel others abilities. basicaly it can hide the graphics of others guys spells. Might help un clutter your screen.

The UI blinking stuff is really only on the earlier quests that teach you game basics. However there are system messages like boss spawns, war declarations, market place listings etc. These can also be truned of in the same settings page.

A further tiop I would make mjight be to have a look at the settings on the chat window also. To do this hover the mouse opver the chat window and click on the cog. Personaly I would trun off all but guild, party, whisper, global, world and server for now. World and server is one you may wish to turn off but these are used for guild recruiting, scroll party recruiting and general server chat so that would be entirely your call.

mainly just follow the black spirit quests grab any other quests, you can play it like a traditional mmo upto about 56 then do your awakening and decide what you want to focus on, more levelling or world boss farming or life skills.

i think the black spirit did a reasonable job of pointing me in the right direction toward quest hubs at different level ranges. in the quest log there should be a list of the quests that offer inventory expansion rewards, most of those come from the black spirit.

Yeah I wasn't too lost on where to go. Rather the sheer amount of things going on as your trying to figure out controls and combos. Honestly I've not played a game quite like this before, not with combos like this anyway. Closest I can guess is ESO. So I've got some learning to do.

I just have to find a less busy area and sort myself out lol.

Lol someone tell me how to use wizard/witches teleport spell? Says shift + spacebar but that just makes me jump. I tried rebinding jump but it just does nothing now ..

Do you have that skill unlocked yet?

(and yes, if you are coming from ESO, the UI is super cluttered with a lot of unnecessary info. Play around with the settings and turn as much stuff off as you can is what I'd recommend).

I figured it out... slightly embarrassed I didn't realize using T to auto run somewhere put me into a travel stance. It only works in combat stance.

Lots to learn.. Lol

So far I've turned off all the notifications that dont appear to apply to me atm...i intend to go through as I'm more experienced and add things in if I need.

I also turned off most chat except world, guild, party, say and whisper

I even rebound some keys. I hope that doesn't effect too much. It appears the tooltips updated with the change.
Example for wizard I rebound interact to E and that ability to R. As I happen too use R for a heal keybind in Wo w.

Also swapped quests to J and dye to O, because well... A decade of hitting J to see your quests is hard to change lol

Just keep in mind your key combos later on. As you unlock more abilities and get awakened you'll chain skills and you wanna make sure it's easy to chain.

I would recommend making two chat panes, seperate not just tabs.

One for whispers, guild, etc (Private stuff).
And one for general chat/trading, etc.
It will keep your sanity intact.
I also have one for items looted and XP gains. but I am a number cruncher, thanks to years of WoW.

Is there anyway to earn pearls or is that cash only? I saw a really sweet gear set/costume? I wanted but it's $30 in real cash...Lol certainly not worth it if it's just for cosmetics.

It's under outfit NOT costume, so Idk how that works. Is it actually gear, and does that mean it's usefull besides looks?
Still doubt it's worth $30 tho heh..

Should be available for in game money on the "auction house" if anyone is selling it that is.

Pearls are RL money only. You can ask people in chat to put up the outfit you want, people will sometimes do that. Just don't spend any pearls for market stuff, it's a scam at that point.
