How come BDO is so cheap?

What's been on my mind since BDO has appeared on steam is on how cheap it is? Is there a reason why?

Its F2P game in other regions - we still have cash shop, but we dont have P2W like them. Its basically F2P game with entrence fee. It will still require to invest a bit of money when you will want to play more efficiently - 4 pets are pretty much must have. But other than that - you can get stuff from cash shop from marketplace (for in game money) aswell.

Is it really worth the £4.20 as it is now? like how many hours would you think I would get out of it? I get it's an MMO and I'm recently interested in wanting to play an MMO as I've only ever played ESO and only got to level 6 before giving up.

Depends on your mentality. BDO has a steep learning curve. There is a lot of mechanics and since you are not familiar with genre it might be even harder. Neverthless I definitely think its worth the money and imho its the best MMORPG on market right now. But dont expect story-driven gameplay like with ESO and VAs are horrible (cheap).

The problem with completly free to play games is that they are often flooded with bots. So I guess this is one way to try and prevent that.

From looking at the graphics within the game I'm guessing it's gonna lag like a bastard?, even thought I've got a decent PC?

I have 340 days on my game since launch and i'm still no where close to being done. Worth a try for the price it's literally like going a day without that milkshake and burger for potential years of fun (and hair pulling RNG and server instability in sieges/world bosses) other then the occasional hey the servers are becoming french fries it's a fun game.

If anything you can turn the settings down, I have a relatively cheap pc and I play with roughly 20-30 fps on medium settings.

Decent? Mine is:
i5-6600 @3.30ghz
GeForce GTX 770
16 GB RAM.
Running on very high - other player effect turned off and even at world bosses I have steady 50 fps.
SSD will help a lot if you have slower HDD though.

you are no where close to being done because you AFK grind 24/7 and didn't actually play
they should change game name to "AFK desert online" , game has no real content only P2W PVP and AFK, the game price is a bait because you need to spend at least 30$+ to play in convenient

You do realise there is more to the game than grinding? Horse racing is super fun, whale hunting, monster hunting, world bosses,... not even going to start about PvP which is the foundation for a lot of players.

The game still dips to about 40 or less during combat.

I am this close from instantly leaving the trial and skipping it all together, I have been reading posts that it is basically pay to win, there is a difference between paying for convinence and paying for a huge grind wall then there is pets and inventory space, this does not sound very good, when you count the prices of costumes along with the other things you need then what is to stop anyone from playing guild wars 2 instead where things are far cheaper?

All games with a cash shop get called P2W to be fair.

You can get thousands of hours out of this easily. When you turn on all quests at level 20, remember to do that to see them all. Whether you'll stick with for a thousand hours I have no idea. I would say its worth 4.20 pounds yeah easily, but how can anyone make that call for you personally. I usually need 3-4 hours per pound to be happy with a purchase. I don't know what you need.

Look at a few gameplay videos and make a judgement call. There is no p2w, ignore the trolls spouting that. There is some pay to make your life easier, but almost everything in the cash shop can be gained in game with a bit of effort. I would say if you were going to drop 20 quid on the game you'd have it a bit easier but not a lot. I picked up inventory upgrades, which you can get through questing, and weight upgrades which you can get through strength training. Pets for auto loot is nice but you are still looting yourself when you hunt mobs anyway, as they are on a timer.

There is no direct, you pay and you get stronger mechanic. Gear will make you stronger and that will only come from time spent. There is a very harsh limit on selling costumes for example, 20 quid for 20 mil with a max of 5 a week for a payer, which is near worthless as end game you make 20 mil in an hour or two. Some say more than that.
