I now see why the BD vets laughed at us $5 buyers. The amount of time you have to spend just wasting your life smashing your use button to loot 800 mobs a day made me regret this purchase.

I should have noted that buying pets will auto loot items for you. and BD is a VERY currency driven economy.

yes in marketplace but you have to be lucky in the bidding system that you get the pet and not someone else, but with some time investment in the markeplace you can get your pets there without spending money yes

Pets are a one time purchase and HELL worth it.
Some Times Events gives Pets.
If your ultra lucky you can get one from Auction House.

I tried to warn people. I really did.

If you are willing to still spend $30 to get the explorer package (cause we all know paying $60 to add on the Explorer's Package DLC is absurd) you can remove the game completely from your steam account ( http://wccftech.com/valve-permanently-delete-steam-games/ ) and repurchase the $30 bundle. You'd be wasting $6 though. This gets you 1 pet with the bundle, the horse whistle, the 16 inventory slots, the 2 extra character slots, the 2x value pack.

Regarding purchasing pets with silver. TL:DR version its not impossible but really difficult. I've explained more in detail below quoting my post from another thread:

Pets and Value Packs:

• They CAN be purchased in game from people selling it on the marketplace. Just it would take a very very long time and you would have to be very lucky to win it because of how the bid system works and how this game has a very controlled market where prices are practically fixed. Pets and Value Packs go up on the market but unlike normal items which take 10-15 minutes to post from the notification, they appear within a minute of the notification. So you have to be lucky at that time to be in town and near the marketplace NPC to make the bid. A bid is telling the server "Hey I want to buy this item". The server for 20 seconds will collect bids from the people who say they want to buy the item and choose one random person to win it. If you win it, you have another 20 seconds or so to buy the item. If for some reason you don't buy the item (this rarely ever happens), then it will post on the market for anyone to buy.
  
  A lot of people spend months trying to buy value packs and pets and not win any. Because its highly sought after and all RNG. Also you are fighting against the people who bought $12 transaction maids from the cash shop. These maids let users place bids/buy remotely so they have the advantage against players who have to run back the marketplace npc. They don't have to be in town to make bids, they can be out and about. The maids have a 20 minute cooldown but this only triggers if they actually buy something, not bid. So anyone with a transaction maid can constantly bid on every pet/value pack that shows up on the market until they win one before the maid goes on cooldown for 20 minutes.
  
  The game really makes it difficult to do the blantant Pay2Win of buying cash shop items and selling them on the market for silver to buy gear. The exchange rate is so bad it really doesnt make sense why people sell pets and value packs on the marketplace but they do. Pets cost $10 on average and sell for 10million silver. Valuepacks cost $15 and sell for 10milion silver. But the game limits players to selling only 5 cash shop items a week. Most players can earn 5-10mil just from grinding for an hour. So its very easy to get the silver to buy it, but the issue is everyone is fighting to buy it off the market because its so cheap.

Lastly getting pets from events. While it did happen in the past. I wouldnt bet on it because who knows when the next event will be. There hasnt been one at all this year so far.
