Nightime "darkness"?

I heard this game had a great night/day cycle, so much so you had to use lanterns at night.

I have yet to encouter any "darkness" at night, not even a slight dip...

Was this removed or am I missing some setting, or a bug?

Darkness varies a bit, far as lanterns depending on your tolerance you might want to use one I wouldn't say they are mandatory though. Speaking for myself I can say it does get dark enough to the point where I do want to use a lantern; that said I generally don't use one simply b/c I don't like needing to worry about refilling the oil it burns to stay lit. It doesn't get so dark though that you can't see anything but it does get darker in this game than in any other MMO I've played.

What is your monitor/in game gamma set to. It indeed becomes very dark at night, 11ish to 4 am.

You have to finish the tutorial black spirit quests to see any and be above level 25 or so.

Play on optimisation mode and go into a cave in night time, there's no global lighting so it's pitch black :D

there's day, night, rain and thunder in the game. at times a little bit of fog. there are a few areas where i have had to use the lantern to see (in the swamp for example).

thunder in this game looks incredible. it rains hard and you can see and hear the lightning. really beautiful. it's kind of rare though i think. only encountered it once.

They nerfed it after a while if I recall, and now it varies, it used to be a lot darker than it is today.

Fair enough, I've never payed enough attention to it. I should have known not to believe the in-game text.

It's definitely level 16 that you get night time, though. If you happen to hit 16 in the middle of night cycle like I have, it's somewhat jarring. lol
