Quick question about my horse

Will it die if I don't feed it or is it like the pet? if it does die will it be permanetely gone?

If it dies you can revive it at a stable. Each revive costs addition silver. Death count also effects breeding chances. If you don't feed it, it won't die, it will just move slower than you could on foot.

Oh, and be very careful around water, horses are allergic to deep water in this game and cannot swim.

And if your horse accidently ends up in a river or lake or some deadly deep puddle of water. Try to get back onto land as fast as possible and call your horse by clicking on the gray circle horse icon. You have like 3 seconds before your horse realizes it cant swim and drowns. If you're lucky the horse will then ignore that its drowning and run to you back onto land.
