Ch 2 hints: eggs (spoilers)

I have the marble in place but I'm having trouble getting two more egg replacements. I do have a pinecone, but it's not black, and I'm not seeing anything else egg-shaped handy. Can anyone give me a nudge?

Well don't leave us the rest of us stuck on the eggs hanging! ;) If I try any of the three proper replacement eggs on the nest, the game refuses to do anything at all. No incorrect action beep, no comment about how silly an idea it is, just nothing.

Edit: oh, I figured it out. (Minor spoiler follows.) It's not so much a puzzle as a game mechanic thing. You need to replace them one by one, whereas if you click on the eggs she just takes all three at once.

How do I ignite the fire under the cauldron a second time? First I used the tinder mushroom and the crystal. The pamphlet says something about a lens, but that's in the telescope with no way to get it out again (as far as I know).

I'm stuck in the laboratory. I made both orange and green powder, but could find no way to use them. The orange is in the retort, but there doesn't seem to be any way to start a reaction...

Still unclear on this.

So I got the pinecone black. Do I need something to do with stone and marble? If nothing, what do I actually need to do to place them in the nest? I've tried all, but the only hint that it should work is the faint blue outline, when I point at the nest with one of those items.

There are leaves somewhere to act as tinder.

Use water to clear the orange powder. Then just place green powder in retort and add water.

Yeah, that is the problem. I can't figure out any way to move the water to the retort. I tried every inventory item on the barrel and retort...

Did you get the tin can? You need it to make use of the water.
When youre in the laboratory, just go upstairs and check the dark corner on the left, theres a cupboard. click on it, and leah will fetch a tin can from there.

So after you get the green powder,you put it into the retort, then fetch some water from the barrel with your tin can and then add this to the retort. Then use the sprayer on the retort to pick up the corrosive fluids. then use it on the brambles.
