I wrote 'for me' because I'm not sure if the combination relative to the non-moveable part is the same for every player.
The strategy is always the same.
The complete master key has these parts
- dent piece (piece with the dent in the middle)
- hammer piece (piece with the round head at the end)
- big cross piece (piece with a large cross)
- small cross piece (piece with a small cross)
- fixed piece (the non-moveable piece)
The fixed piece is never a part of the lock itself. But it has always to be hidden behind a certain moveable piece.
So look at the lock itself. You can see how the moveable pieces have to be positioned relative to each other.
If you position them at the key keep in mind that they have to be in this relative position if the key shows away from you (like in my screenshot) and not when the key shows towards you (position is mirrored then). This is really important. You normally move the key pieces if they show towards you. Before you try to use the key always turn it towards the lock to check if you really positioned the pieces correctly relative to each other.
Since you don't know behind which one of the moveable keys the fixed piece has to be hidden, there are up to 4 possible combinations you have to try (depending on how many moveable pieces the lock needs).
Omg! I am listening to this but I don't understand what you are saying because it is too complicated. Could you please try explaining what you said in a more simplified way?

and here is a video walkthrough's key beginning at the same point as I am:

We don't even have the same amount of pieces on our keys.
I'm really really really worried about what you said about every key-open combination coming out randomly
