At first I thought maybe it was a design choice but now i'm not so sure. a lot of other things about this game feel rough around the edges. The erratic framerate, the lack of proper video options, the weird unfinished textures (apparently their fingernails are covered in skin and everything is covered in baby oil), the fact that the entire d-pad is mapped as an exit button, the awkward stiff animation, the fact that Vsync will not work, etc...
This game was rushed
lol, this is true.
There is some massive lack of orientation, because often, the viewrange ends right in front of your character, its like you must not see what's coming in path direction.
I also agree that the setting and vibe are great. It's only the execution that sucks. Nothing that can't be fixed with patches but the question is will it? Judging from the rushed feeling, and the fact that the developers have been utterly silent on here since launch I am not getting my hopes up. I am right at the verge of not being able to refund, so I am thinking at this point I probably will, and come back later to see if it ever gets fixed
;D My point was more like an addition to yours, but i was talking about blocking the path direction view by the end of viewrange itself, especially in smaller places.
I don't like that you lose overview a lot because you simply cannot see in walk direction due to the camera placement. All in all, exploring a new area just feels uncomfortable to me most of the time.
