Old Man's Journey

Old Man's Journey

SPOILERS: That ending!
I just wanted to share my thoughts about the game. The main info is related to the end of the game, so be careful if haven't finished it yet.

* * * * *

So... In the end the old man reaches the actual house of the woman that used to be his wife. Their daughter is there too, probably, the daughter sent him the letter telling him his wife/ex-wife was ill and probably going to die.

It seems a simple game but with just a handful of pictures it achieves to tell the story so nicely. The beginning is so romantic-like that, even if I am able to understand his love towards the sea, I can't understand how he could abandon his family. The woman seems a nice person (I only saw them arguing once [HA-HA-HA] and the daughter loves him truly.

Another theme is that what it seems to be his grandaughter goes with them in the boat, but there is not any daddy appearing, I just hope the old man hasn't started a psychologic loop where all women from his family end growing their children alone.

Well, I may have written just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t but I spent more or less two hours of my live playing this so... I just wanted to express it.

+1

What moved me a lot was that his wife smiled at him before she died. I shed a tear. Best two hours I spent in a game since a while.

I think it's not possible to do this on thread titles:) just don't click when it says "SPOILERS"

I meant the text itself. When hovering over the post you will automatically see the contents. Unless you strikethrough

I am sorry if you read it while hovering, how do I strikethrough the text?

use [ spoiler ]..... [ /spoiler ] tags around the parts of text you want to hide (remove spaces inside brackets) EDIT: edited my post with it

Sorry if we spoiled some parts, I'm sure we didn't mean to do it. In all cases this game deserves really to be played to make your story through it.

It's not only the preview, if you visit https://steamcommunity.com/app/581270 you will immediately read the complete ending.

I am very sorry, I only wanted to share some thoughts after my experience. As I can see, I may not have used the best way to do it, so, if you tell me how, I will erase this thread (sorry, I haven't done that before, ever).

Best regards,

I'm sorry

Man you started a great thread. It's good to share our thought about the game, we need more of that. You should just edit your post by adding some [ spoiler ] tags around the parts to hide, it would hide them in the summary page also, and thus avoid people to read if they don't want.

OK. I just learned how to do it. Excuse me @Fierman I will try to make sure something like this doesn't happen because of my fault.

I recommend you to play the game, now or after some time (you may forget some or all the spoilers)
Real Dec 17, 2018 @ 4:20am
my bad, it actually doesn't hide in summary steam page :)) https://steamcommunity.com/app/581270

(or maybe it didn't refresh the text...)

You can try to add some introduction text to your post, as the summary seems to show only the first paragraph...

Ok. I think it is totally fixed now, thank you for your help.

haha yes :good: it's a brain teaser to avoid making spoilers with all theses internet technologies nowadays :)

Thanks for editing :)
We finished the game yesterday. Loved it.
Games like this keep me hoping for more experiments in computergaming. I love how the days of truly interactive films are almost there :)

I realize this is an old thread, but I wanted to answer your question as a man going on 12 years of marriage and in an oddly similar crossroads. You reach a certain age and start thinking about all the things you'll never get to do because you're tied down by your familial responsibilities. After a decade of marriage, there's no fireworks. Relationships take work and it's easy to lose sight of why you got married in the first place. Wow. All I can say is this game just punched me straight in the feels and is making me rethink my life a bit.
