And for the FLG missions, yes, it is refuel only, BUT, the cargo FLG missions can only be unloaded in the two spots next to the conning tower. They won't unload anywhere else.
* All FLG's need to be fueled (purple) (fuel only, no mission type)
* For the planes that start out on the ship (beginning of round), make SURE you have the correct type of plane selected. It is easy to mix up the hornet and super hornet, and easy to mix up the S3 and A6, until you get used to them. Once you get used to them, it's easy to tell them apart.
* Fixed wing (plane) FLG's can launch from ANY catapault (helos still launch from helo pads). If one won't launch, then:
- It may not be fueled or you have it color coded for another mission. It needs to be fuel only, no mission type. If you accidentally select a mission type, just undo it by selecting fuel)
- You may have selected the wrong plane
- You may have forgotten to unload it first (see next)
* Cargo FLG's MUST be unloaded. They can only be unloaded in the designated spots (see icons on screen). Don't forget to operate the elevators to keep the cargo trucks running or they will back up. If they get backed up, then they will not be able to unload the next craft that comes in.
I think that's about it. I'm rusty as I don't play anymore, but I always liked the cargo missions. I'm going to go back and play a few and then I'll edit this post. (ok, I've edited now)
The correct way (or the most optimal if you prefer) would be to always cycle your planes thru the maintenance area unless critically required RFN!, then have them get back up to ream according to what you want... Some people prefer to ream then send the planes to the maintenance area second but that's not a strategy I've been able to use regularly with success on the highest difficulty. Main thing tho is that up to now in the campaign you could do pretty much anything you want and it would work, allowing you to win the mission and carry on. Even if you had resupply missions but didn't know how it worked you could just ignore them up to now... But in this mission you get like 8 to do so you can't ignore them anymore.
The main thing to remember is that everything is color and shape coded. Don't remember the name of a particular plane? Who cares really, I consider myself a long vet of this game and I have no clue how any plane are called still. Nor do I care... I just follow the shapes of whatever I need to use and place the right plane (shapes) in the missions I have to send my planes to.
In this particular campaign mission that OP is referencing, the game ask you for a purple plane. You start with only one kind of plane and you have a lot of those. 8 I think, sitting in the maintenance deck? Well bring those planes up like usual and arm them as usual (always keep at least two planes of each color ready to fly out if you can...) but when the game ask you for a purple plane then either just refuel that particular plane or if you already have armed (and refuelled, incidentally) planes on the deck just hit the disarm button. They'll still remain fuelled and become purple. Then send them flying. Voila!
The big resupply planes are the same but you can't rearm them (can't go to dangerous missions) and when you select them you'll see the only two spots on the deck they can be used to drop their package. They can be refuelled directly from those two spots too.
