ANA Police Car mechanics not clear
Started US skirmish with features from Royal Marines DLC and noticed following detail:

  • US HQ Base and every FOB have ANA Police Car icon with a tooltip about police units stationed here (0 of 2 everywhoere).
  • At some point ANA Police car units start to spawn in US Main base.

Now that's nice and cool but I don't see any relationship between Police cars in FOB or HQ base and that counter. Because counter never changes.

Could someone (devs? or someone more experienced) explain what those counters are meant to display?

Agree, not clear about their in game use either. I initially thought they might be useful for the new road block feature, but see no option for that.

You need ANA/US/UK infantry unit boarded in infantry military transport to get roadblock feature. And not every scenario have civilian car/roadblock feature enabled. In the skirmish mode You enable in options while generating a new map.

As with police car, if roadblock feature is available in scenario, then police car will have it also - You just need an infantry unit to board it and police car will get option to deploy roadblock with attached infantry manning the roadblock as a result.

In addition, police car can gather intelligence from settlements (with campfire) just by driving there - no need to dismount infantry inside settlement for that.

And the last thing - they are really fast on the road and can cover larege distances. They proved handy in getting wounded infantry back to the base really fast.

Klavs, thanks for the great info update. I only tried the Jackal with UK Marines and no roadblack showed up.

Will it have the icon on the vehicle, in game, just not selectable until Infantry unit's are loaded? Just curious how I will know if the roadblock is available in the scenario/campaign.

For current version of the game - you can send empty police pickup to collect intel. I don't know if it is a bug or they did it for purpose, but it works.

Yes, you have to get infantry on Jackal/MRAP/ANP for roadblock icon to show up. So, you can do it on first turn to check if campagin mission have this feature enabled.

Also, you can wait until civilan cars will spawn. If this option is enabled, cars will start spawning since second turn.

Hope it help:)

This is also a puzzle for me. Streamers and game descirption states that ANP unit is a reward for having a very high H&M rating in a village. So, in theory, when you max H&M in one village, you should get one ANP unit and then, your counter should change. I had similar experince like you - after many turns (somewher in the middle of the game) I started reciving ANP units (up to 2 of them). I think devs will patch it up later..

In fact the police car can refresh intel even without a present campfire and (as already mentioned) without any unit aboard.

Not only ANP can check how village is doing. Infantry and UN Aid delivers also give you an update about village status and change flag if H&M rating reached specific level.
ANP counter not updating, in the patch coming very soon...

I see :) Ok, keep updating, it's a good game, I like it. Even with all those Java NullPointer errors ;)

The hard part is in the recreation of reported bugs, takes time and patience... :)

I know the pain ;) And those nullpointer exceptions usually happen after quite a long play.
