Tips for Op. Mountain Thrust
Couldn't raise the H&M rate above 50, in the end I've lost badly with 43 rate.

Any tips on how to start well this scenario? Especially FOB placements

I just finished my current campaign. I'll take a look at it.

Also I've been using twitch to record some of my games. I'll probably be streaming on and off this evening. Just search for Afghanistan '11. Shouldn't be hard to find.

I started the mission on Veteran to see how it played. Build a bridge and use UN supplies to convert the two super close cities ASAP. I like to expand slow and keep my supply lines super safe. I'm on turn 25. I have 3 FOB on the dirt road that runs along the south side of the map.

1st: On the first available spot close to the HQ. artillery pit
2nd: North side of the road next to Cenar. artillery pit
3rd: As close to Alim as possible north of the road. artillery, hospital

Train and level up ANA infantry as fast as you can so you can keep lots of sight on the mountains north of the FOBs. In my game I've only seen 2 militia south of the road, but I remember having a tough fight south of the road in my first game on this map (might have been elite level).

Try to find where the TAL/MIL are coming from and get drone and SF coverage there. Once you get enough sight in the mountains you should find a cave. Set infantry on ambush nearby to level up quickly. You can locate the caves by moving on to a suspicious hex and noticing that you won't be able to set up ambush. Keep watch on that hex and often you'll see 1-3 enemy come out of it.

Also be careful with helicopters. Operating them is expensive. Flying them over foggy terrain is just gonna get them shot making it more costly. I have one Blackhawk and one M18. I only use the Blackhawk to ferry SF or infantry over to pop and opium camp. I use the M18 to put fresh SF back in the mountains if I need to rotate something out fast.

I'm at 51 H&M (low point was 46) with about 8000 PP. My plan is to move up the highway and put down 2 FOB and send UN aid to convert the first 3 eastern villages. Also I will try to build a road up to the village in the northwest. The election is 2 turns out. We'll see how it goes.

Waterworks give you a stewdy supply pf PP. Send husky to the east side of the map and then keep going north, you should be able to disable 10+ IEDs in a few turns to pick up considerable H&M. Pull the husky back when it is wounded.

Other than that just deliver UN aids to villages until you see the American flag, I lost quite a few Mi8s when delivering aids to villages on the east side. But that is ok, the overall H&M balance is positive. Drop some troops down north of HQ to disable IEDs, you can gather the intel by visiting the villages.
