While I also find the inability to swim in the lakes and rivers a little on the annoying side, I understand the Dev's reasoning -- to allow the player characters to swim would give them access to areas specifically off limits.
I also suggested the ability to swim in at least the landlocked bodies of water, followed by the suggestion that the reset trigger be a bit more sensitive as to detect when the character has surfaced to prevent the game from "resetting" them when they're not technically in any danger. I still think the second option to be viable, and the Devs have told me they are thinking about a solution.
But please give us some kind of swimming or floating to traverse landlocked water!
Some rivers you can cross if you walk close at Waterfalls
No need for swimming IMHO
I've noticed that you can generally traverse shallow waters, marked by turquoise color, everything that is darker will make you drown. That helps a lot already, still I would like to be able to react for like 5 seconds after drowning, being able to move and jump so you can (if youre lucky) avoid the reset
