Pointless?
I just finished the main quest and most of the other quests.

I did somewhat enjoy the game, but it suffers from the same problem that no man's sky had. The game seems mostly pointless.

I only harvested from 1 farm once and never used the other ones. The quests are generic like the craft $1000 of things you don't need. You can craft items to trade, but why when you can just buy clothes for 95% discount and make back 20 times your money.

I understand this game is supposed to be relaxing and is a nice walking simulator, but it seems like there should be some other purpose for crafting items or using the farms. There are some nice systems in the game, but there is no reason to use most of them.

I have the same issue, I created the other farms but I used them only for the chest when I travel..

I feel like this game is a Journey like but with a few tweaks to be less " contemplative "

I use the other farms for growing some trees and plants to have quick access to those resources in any region, and to store local wildlife, for the adopting all animals achievement. Once you got construction and carpentry recipes, you can style each farm differently too, but mainly for fun, cause there's no real point in using a stone stable vs a wooden one.

Yeah there should be a lot more details worked out so theres indeed purpose for all those things. And with all the current "openness" there are lots of options for great creativity. Probably some animals could prefer stone housing over wooden, and the whole trade economy doesnt really sit right with me either. Maybe there should be some sort of "NPC Credit" where if you trade for too much or too few that specific npc has extra credit on his account from you (or minus). So that atleast some sort of money can be raised.

I think more purpose would also appear if we had more choice, and effect on the world around us, like actions+consequences. Right now everything is useless because its a game without consequences. If you dont eat, nothing happens... i mean, we cant even eat hah. Yet in winter we start shaking. We can make hot milk since pretty much the very beginning so why isnt drinking that heating us up? (for example). All these details would make for a much more rich experience i think!

Food that gave little bonuses would be fun. I like the hot milk idea.

Just my opinion but other than the enjoyment we get from them, every game is pointless. They accomplish absolutely nothing but pass time. OP said he somewhat enjoyed the game so mission accomplished. Could it be better, probably. It appears the devs are still working on improving it and they are apparently having fun doing it as evidenced by the sounds in the bog and conversations in Troll Town.

Fair, lol.

All games are "pointless", but there are those games that feel like they've wasted your time.

I personally don't feel like Yonder has wasted my time, but it's not a game for everyone. No game is for everyone.
