Soggy Boots :(

I'm playing the PS4 version and have no idea where else to ask this, so here I am on Steam.

I have a notice board quest to get 4 soggy boots. I've been fishing in the game for HOURS (mostly dip fish) and no soggy boots have dropped! Is there a secret to getting these? Is there a trader I can get some from?

I'm kind of at my wits end because I can't pick up any other notice board quests and am effectively locked out of the trophy for completing 10 of them until I can get past this one :( On the plus side, I did get the all fish types trophy while doing this...

Edit: I had one boot in my storage from the beginning of the game but I can't remember where I got it from

If I remember correctly from when I was fishing for it, it was about the size of a Lace fish in fresh water. - I've never seen them on a trader, and I was mostly out of it becasue all I had been doing at that point was fishing on repeat while reading reddit. xD

I've had boots from oceon or lake but always a fair size shadow that's definately fish shaped. One of my saves has 4. The other save only has 1. I guess it's RNG.

This is very aggravating. I had a giant shadow and managed to actually hook it. When it pulled up in that quick animation, it was a really pretty, colorful fish. When it actually showed me what I got on screen, it was a boot.

Yesterday i caught one boot at night around midnight when i was hunting a ghostfish. Don't know if that helps but try going for it at night. very rare. Try narrow a villages lake.

Night time, west Sunderwind Wilds, facing the Radiant sands beach on the other side. It was the size of a Lace fish yes.

No advice here, just empathy. I've put hours into fishing over the span of a week or so looking for boots. I found 1 boot really quickly after the Deliver items to Grandpa quest, but the other two are really tough! I've tried fresh water, ocean, streams, lakes.. wooo.. the benefit to all this is I've gathered some much needed clay along the way, but still!

That's on my list of things to tweak, actually :) I'll see what I can do to get this into next build! <3

I know this is a super old post but the wiki says it can be caught anywhere and anytime. It has a small chance of appearing instead of any fish caught. Whether it's a dip fish or gigalev.
