Review, Tips & Tricks: general guide to new users
WHAT IS IT?
For anyone thinking is this game worth paying for the answer is kind of! :-D
There just are no dino games in vr of any quality and maybe this isnt it but its close.
you get to mess with bugs and barrels and baby and not so baby t-rexes.
And i swear your robot ally is the guy from what we do in the shadows...

MODS:
So first off you need to super sample = For me "adding a line to system.cfg file in the game folder works better than resolution scale in game. The line: r_SuperSampling = 2".

Streaming APP:
Then you need to decide if you want virtual desktop with a controller which will get you better visuals and more options OR the inferior meta oculus link which will look ok but has a working touch controller...remapped from a vive exclusive i think.
I went with meta oculus airlink after hrs of failing to get on with VD.

Graphics:
Then you need to turn up the graphic settings in game if your card can manage it. Any 40 series will be fine at 2.0. A 3060 will struggle and a 3080 gets away with 1.5 scale HIGH.
I think the choice of anal is TAA or FXAA but its called temporal or normal? taa will be better but hurt fps (i think).

If youre having fps or latency issues you can mess with nvidia profile settings and make sure nothing else is running and you can always overclock your gpu if you know how.
This will allow you to get more fps on weaker cards and better settings on 40series onwards.

CONTROLS:
Then chose controls set up in game.
And youlll prob want free strafe and smooth turning.
If your latency is low and youve played vr youll be ok as the game is slow on purpose.
Or chose pie chart or pie chart continuous which means when you push left or right it goes from 1 shift or to continuous incremental shift . And you can limit strafing if you want to go really slow and controlled. This is not a fast game and has no combat im aware of. Its a walking sim.
If youre messing with steamvr and xbox of duelshock 4 then you can set this up on ds4 windows or the steamvr mapping tab. You might need to remap though there are steam user profiles you can grab.

Gameplay:
remember this is an old psvr game which the devs didnt care about the day after release letalone years later lol
The game is what it is and you have to accept its limitations and enjoy what it offers. And it offers something few others do... nicely animated dinosaurs in vr and some decent foliage. And some lite education. you can spin the dioramas of the animals you scan. Scanning involves collecting the green balls but not the red ones. The red ones reset the scan so be careful. If you want to scan a moving dino like the baby trek call it over and make it sit or give it something to play with to stay still. There is a play box with toys and clothing if you want to dress up your leathery scale wife...i mean your pet t-rek...:-O
The game is about 5hrs if you faf about.

Glitches
- There are lighting issues where spots look black or flicker or pop in now and again. - --
- Sometimes controls are iffy.
- Sometimes getting the dino to do stuff is twitchy and it can get stuck.
- Sometimes scanning can be a nightmare so just be patience.
- Sometimes you get stuck behind lifted objects (restart area).
- Sometimes your hands dont appear (tar pitts) when you go to climb which means recenter yourself in game or restart.
- It seems like a glitch when you first rescue your trex from the boxes. You need to fully remove the big box from the small cave.

TIPS:
- It seems like a glitch when you need to call over the trek to clear the fences. You need to use the summon command and then when it arrives and sits down point the scanner at the ground and summon her. If you forget how to do this look at your ingame control help schematic.
- Use your map to get directions on what to do next.
- The energy management map will let you turn on the food processor as well.
- You need to be within the blue shield to wield the larger objects off the ground (on the farm).
- Lizards run away if youre too near.
- Walk around with your scanner out scanning as youll find random insects and listen for odd sounds as hints to a hidden animal to scan.
For the difficult animal scans like the Tar Worm or the mole you need to be patient.
The tar worm will go into a swimming animation eventually to be scanned.
For The mole...just stand near the hole and dont move. It will pop out for a scan. Do not move lol
- To catch a CAMP fish you can use the satellite dish or get it to jump on the land and then quickly ask the dino to fetch it. Then you can throw it in the grinder.

- To cheat broken trophies in the game folder there is a xml file. You can also alter it to complete collectables.

"<Steamlibrary>\SteamApps\common\Robinson The Journey\user\options\default"

Look for attributes.xml. All save slots are stored in the same file.
The name tag has a 0/ or 1/ or 2/ to determine if the attribute is for slot 1 slot 2 or slot 3.
This one is for slot 0, the first slot for example:
<Attr value="false"
name="0/GameTokens/robinson_rescue_pod.scarecrow.arm_right_id_name"/>
You can fix the scarecrow bug with this by setting the attribute to "true".
